DOBIE SECURES FIRST GLSS WIN!

Lima, OH – The GLSS Ohio CAT Sprint Division rolled into Limaland Motorsports Park for the 4th time this season on Friday night. This time the 4th time was the charm and we were able to get our first official race at Limaland in the books with Wapakoneta, OH native Devon Dobie winning his first ever GLSS race at his childhood track.

Starting out the night, Luke Griffith (Sandusky, OH) was our Ti22 Quick Time Fast Qualifier. Drew Siferd (McComb, OH), Kobe Allison (Lima, OH), Max Stambaugh (Elida, OH) and Dustin Daggett (Portland, MI) rounded out the overall top 5 qualifiers.

Dobie wins the Engler Machine & Tool Heat 1, with Gregg Dalman (Bellevue, MI) moving up 4 spots to secure 2nd. While Randy Hannagan (Pittsboro, IN), Griffth and Jared Horstman (Cloverdale, OH) rounded out the top 5.

In the Howard Johnsons of Lima Heat 2, reigning GLSS Champion, Stambaugh secures the heat win, with Phil Gressman (Fremont, OH), a visiting Robbie Stillwagon (Burlington, NJ), Allison and Brady Parmeley (Cadet, MO) the remaining top 4 spots.

Past GLSS Champion Dustin Daggett won the Ohio CAT Rentals Heat 3 from the 4th position, eliminating a redraw spot. Mike Burkin (Clyde, OH) returned to 360 racing Friday and secured 2nd place, with Dan McCarron (Britton, MI), Caleb Harmon (Elida, OH) and Kelsey Ivy (Fremont, OH) rounded out the top 5.

The Smith Motorsports team had some unexpected excitement after their driver, Max Stambaugh won the 2nd Heat race. They discovered engine problems and the decision was made that they needed to change motors before the feature. Besides the Smith team, neighboring drivers and crew members worked together to remove the damaged motor and install the new motor in 33 minutes, in time to put heat in the motor and make the call on the track for the A Main. Because of time constraints the team wasn’t able to get the car set up the way they wanted, but Stambaugh was able to hold on for a 7th place finish.

Dobie led all 25 laps of the feature but not after a scare for Dobie as he heard Luke Griffith and saw him showing his nose in lap 22. But with two laps to go, the two 11 cars spun in unison and came to a stop facing traffic in turn 4 bringing out the first and only caution of the night. Lining up the cars Dobie was able to secure his first ever GLSS feature win as the last two laps went green, white, checker.

Griffith secured 2nd place and Hannagan was able to move up 6 spots to secure 3rd. Daggett and Allison rounded out the top 5 spots. Noah Dunlap (Wapakoneta, OH) starting 22nd tonight, was able to navigate up through the field 8 positions, earning him the Operating Engineers Hard Charger.

The next Ohio CAT Sprint Division race will be on June 21st at Limaland Motorsports Park!
