THUNDER IN THE VALLEY BRINGS MIDGETS & MICROS ON FRIDAY & SATURDAY

GRAIN VALLEY, MO.(July 9, 2019) – A trio of POWRi Racing leagues will converge upon Valley Speedway this Friday and Saturday, July 12-13, as Thunder in the Valley presented by Rod End Supply returns. The two-day show at the Grain Valley, Mo. quarter-mile will feature the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midgets and the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midgets alongside the POWRi Engler. Machine & Tool Outlaw Micros.

An annual July doubleheader, this weekend’s event marks the third annual Thunder in the Valley. Over the four POWRi National/West Midget features in that time, four different drivers have found victory lane. Tanner Thorson of Minden, Nev. and Spencer Bayston of Lebanon, Ind. pulled off a Keith Kunz-Curb Agajanian Motorsports sweep in 2017, while Tucker Klaasmeyer of Paola, Kans. and Jake Neuman of New Berlin, Ill. split victories in 2018.

All in all, 14 POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League have been contested at the Grain Valley facility dating back to their debut at Valley on May 16, 2008. With 11 unique winners, only three drivers have been able to assume a second triumph in their National careers at Valley. Brett Anderson of Avon, Ind. (April 2011, May 2012), Darren Hagen of Riverside, Calif. (May 2014, May 2015) and Thorson (May 2016, July 2017), have all won twice.

Logan Seavey of Sutter, Calif., the current POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League points leader, comes into the weekend fresh of a Pepsi Nationals title at Angell Park Speedway that gave him his seventh win in 11 races this year. A Valley winner in May of 2018, Seavey looks to continue his dominant force aboard the Keith Kunz-Curb Agajanian Motorsports, Mobil 1, Bullet/Toyota No. 67. Traiing Seavey in National points at the moment is Tucker Klaasmeyer (-480), Zach Daum (-610), Jesse Colwell (-640) and Jake Neuman (-770).

As for the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midgets, points leader Andrew Felker of Carl Junction, Mo. brings in a 770-point lead following his third win of the 2019 campaign this weekend at Airport Raceway in Kansas. Following Felker in the standings is Hank Davis of Sand Springs, Okla. (-770), Chance Morton of Coweta, Okla. (-1,140), Cannon McIntosh of Bixby, Okla. (-1,810) and Kade Morton of Coweta, Okla. (-1,900).

After a near month-long hiatus, the POWRi Engler Machine & Tool Outlaw Micros will return to form this weekend as they too battle at Valley Speedway on Friday and Saturday night. A year ago, Harley Hollan of Broken Arrow, Okla. and Riley Goodno of Knoxville, Iowa split the wins at Valley. Joe B. Miller of Millersville, Mo. holds a slim 10-point advantage over Gunner Ramey of Sedalia, Mo. in the standings with Goodno (-320), Kaylee Bryson of Muskogee, Okla. (-590) and Trevin Littleton of Jacksonville, Ill. (-680) close behind.
