Aaron Poe Prevails as POWRi Super Stock Inaugural National Champion
Belleville, IL. (11/2/2021) Battling tooth-and-nail up to the bitter end of the POWRi Super Stock’s inaugural season, competition would be stout as the ultimate championship would not be decided until the final event on the schedule. With four drivers mathematically still in the chase for the championship going into the last event of the year, Aaron Poe of Knob Noster Missouri would clinch the glory in the clutch by a mere thirty-point margin.
“To say this race season was the best and longest season of my career would definitely be an understatement. After getting my first ever track championship in 2020, following it up with a national championship was naturally next on my list of goals. I just never imagined it would happen this quickly and, in the sanction’s inaugural season” stated Aaron about his championship campaign.
Racing a total of thirty-two POWRi Super Stock nights while hitting ten different tracks during the year, four of which were new tracks to the talented wheelman, Poe would capture seven feature victories while consistently staying inside the top-ten of the season standings and eventually surging to the pinnacle of the leaderboards with a late-season surge of top-five performances by only finishing outside the top-ten twice.
“There are so many individuals to thank that help me throughout each season. My brother-in-law, Marc Carter, for building one of the most versatile and safest cars in the business. Phillip Sullivan Jr. for stepping up huge late in the season with my dad being on the road for work. Tim Poe for spending countless hours in the shop making sure the car was dialed in and looking stellar each time we hit the track. And of course, Jessica Bruce for sacrificing her weekends to come with us and make sure we were packed up and had everything we needed for all of our long trips, all while being pregnant with our little future racer. There are so many others that have helped throughout the years; Rhonda Hunold Poe, Harriett Chancellor, Andrea Carter, Sue Ann Carter, Brady Carter, Addison Carter, Scott Anderson, Mike Lynette Daugherty, Mike "Pup" Werneke, John Brooks, Bob Larson, Billy McTighe, Jason Bodenhamer, and the list goes on” added Aaron.
Driving the Barbara Poe Thomas, Central Bank of Warrensburg, B&G Scoops, Spies Enterprises, All-Star Bail Bonds, Elite Auto Repair LLC, Solar Pro Tint N Tunes, Joe Good State Farm, ELITE Realty, McTighe Motorsports, LLC, Sadie's Spirits & Tobacco, Stay True Tattoo, Honor Detailing, Dirt Track Specialist, Liter’s VP & VP Racing Fuels, Signs By Gunner, Joshua Allee Photography, Superior Steering Wheels, Shark Racing Chassis, Triple-R, Performance Engine, #45 to a POWRi Super Stock National Championship.
Including, “I also have to thank all of the great competition this year, especially Donnie Miller, Tony Anglin, and Teddy Welschmeyer. It was so much fun battling it out with them all year and especially the last two months as the points battle tightened. I couldn't dream of racing with a better group of guys. After racing in several different classes in my career it's refreshing to go to track every week expecting tough competition and getting to head home with your car still in one piece most nights. Racing with guys that respect your equipment as much as they do their own is what makes this class so enjoyable to me. So, for that, I thank all of the drivers I had the privilege of racing against this year” Poe noted.
Lastly, Aaron added, “I have to give the biggest thanks to POWRi and all of the promoters who worked their tails off this winter to keep this awesome class alive. Kenny Brown & Kevin Greven, Earl Walls & Sam Stoecklin, Gary Stolba, Jerry & Annette Brown, Clint Gann & Ronnie Williams, Scott & Rebecca Dawson, Mike Tramell, Paul & Lois Tribble, and Shon Stuart. Without all their hard work and dedication all of us drivers would have been scrambling around the last offseason trying to figure out what class to race. I'm so proud of all the people involved that helped make this season so successful for this class. We definitely have some things to work on and build upon, but the future looks very bright for this class. Let's make 2022 even bigger and better.”
