Bacon’s Third Career POWRi Micro Victory Comes at I-44

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – An unusual sight in a micro as of late, but a very familiar face to open wheel racing and Oklahoma, Brady Bacon is back in a micro at his old stomping grounds of the Oklahoma bullrings for the Sixth Annual Turnpike Challenge. After starting outside the front row, Brady Bacon found his groove, took the lead early on and never looked back. Bacon’s victory with the POWRi Engler Machine & Tool 600cc Outlaw Micro League is the third of his career.

Starting on the pole, Aiden Purdue led early on, but relinquished the lead to Bacon on lap five. Enduring a handful of cautions, Bacon navigated lap traffic and proved he was the class of the field. Aidan Purdue had a strong second place finish, which could very well build solid momentum to give way to a title chase for the 2019 POWRi Engler Machine & Tool 600cc Outlaw Micro League championship. Gunner Ramey edged his way onto the podium at the last minute with less than five laps remaining. Gage Robb finished fourth with Cole Roberts in fifth.

“This car is really good and we’re having fun,” commented Brady Bacon. “It’s great to have a chance to win and thanks to Kelly and all the Hinck family for allowing me to run a midget and a micro out here. I’m glad we were able to get a win here. It’s been a busy couple of days running both classes, but I think we got everything ironed out and should be less work tomorrow.”

“It was awesome,” stated Aiden Purdue. “This is our best finish this year and everyone watching, that’s the best we could do and it’s awesome. I can’t thank my team enough, Brad McDaniel, my mom and dad, Speed Shack Performance and the crowd for coming out. This is an awesome night.”

“It was definitely a tricky track,” said Gunner Ramey. “I just tried to be patient on the bottom and hit my marks, but it was so slick and you had to be good on the pedal. I was just trying to be patient. Glad to be on the podium. It’s a good way to start the season and glad to get the points. This D1 Chassis Driven Midwest car was on a roll. We’re so good everywhere we go, we’re just consistently good and it seems like we get better everywhere we go, so that’s really fun to be able to compete with everyone and be a contender.”
