Alex Truscinski Dominates Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints at Devils Lake Speedway

Belleville, IL. (06/08/2020) Article credit: Jason Berg. The POWRi Lucas Oil Minn-Kota Lightning Sprint Series returned to take on the high banked Devils Lake Speedway this past Saturday night. Thirteen cars registered for an event that was not a typical June summer day, as it was cool and extremely windy.

Two heat races were on tap with Kelsi Pederson claiming the victory in heat one, while Alex Truscinski claimed the victory in heat two. With weather moving in intermission was scrapped and the POWRi Lighting Sprints took to the track for their feature, as the field was paced by Lawrence Veralrud and Bryce Haugeberg, with Jason Berg and heat 2 winner Alex Truscinski completing the second row. At the drop of the green last week's feature winner Dexter Dvergsten and Pederson made their way quickly from their starting positions towards the front of the field. The race was slowed by a caution resetting the field on what was becoming a tricky track with turns one and two having some grip while turns three and four were extremely slick in combination with a crosswind, creating for difficult racing.

On the restart, Alex Truscinski took off out front with his father Alan Truscinski on his bumper and Kelsi Pederson following in hot pursuit, as Dexter Dvergsten and Jason Berg were battling closely for the top five positions. With the laps dwindling it was Alex Truscinski #10 taking command of the race and celebrating a belated birthday gift by winning the POWRi Lucas Oil Minn-Kota Lightning Sprint Series feature, co-sanctioned with NLSA. Rounding out the top five were #13 Alan Truscinski, #93 Kelsi Pederson, #11 Dexter Dvergsten, and #100 Jason Berg.

This week the POWRI Lucas Oil Minn-Kota Lightning Sprint Series along with the NLSA, are scheduled to race two thrilling nights. Friday, June 12th POWRi MKLS invades the Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, ND, then again on Saturday, June 13th the Lightning Sprints head back to the northwest to take on the high banks of the Devils Bowl at the Devils Lake Speedway in Crary, ND.
