Joe Godsey scores Top-5 finish in season opener

The 2022 season got underway for Roth Motorsports on Friday afternoon with Joe Godsey returning to the driver’s seat of the Kimbel Services No. 14G Late Model at Cotton Bowl Speedway (Paige, Texas) for the two-day Texas Late Model Stampede. Drawing 35 Southern Touring Late Model Series entries, Joe clocked in second-fastest in his group before picking up a heat race win. With $3,000 on the line in the feature, Godsey dropped one spot in the 30-lapper to register a fourth-place finish. He trailed B.J. Robinson, Cade Dillard, and Steven Whiteaker Jr. to the checkers with Robbie Starnes coming in ffith.

For the $5,000-to-win A-Main on Saturday, Godsey secured his spot into the finale with a third-place finish in his heat. Rolling off ninth, Joe was an early retiree on the fourth circuit.
