WLRDS Points Season Kicks-Off This Saturday! (5/19)
This Saturday (5/19) the WLRDS kicks off their points season at Beaver Dam Raceway! This event will not only be a WLRDS points race, but a national qualifier as well. With the past two weekends at Beaver Dam rained out many drivers are still working the bugs out of their cars and searching for the right setup. A full field is expected as many drivers are looking to start the WLRDS season off right in hopes of knocking Cody Apfelbeck off the top spot as champion. While all of the WLRDS drivers are fun to watch, there are a few to keep an eye on. Justin Pearson was very fast at the Beaver Dam opener and was one of the few competitors to make his way through the field on a rough track. Pearson has been a force to be reckon with over the past year and is looking to capture a points title to backup his solid performances. Bille Lehmann is also another driver to keep your eyes on. Lehmann has been consistently getting faster week after week since teaming up with Johnson Racing and it is only a matter of time before he ends up in victory lane. Cody Apfelbeck is the obvious favorite going into the season which means that he will have a target on his back all year long. Apfelbeck won his heat race in convincing fashion during the opener but did not compete in the feature due to mechanical issues. As we have seen in the past though, the legends division is full of talent, as evidenced by the 2015 season where nearly every race at Beaver Dam Raceway had a different winner.
Racing starts at 6:30 on Saturday with spectator gates opening at 4:30. Fans will see 5-divisions of racing all for just $25 a car load or $12 a person. For more information visit www.wismotorsports.net.
