Midwest Legends Dirt Series
Miklas The Man at Gravity Park
Chilton, WI (June 7th, 2024) - Jordan Miklas had come so close to winning multiple times in Wisconsin this season. After picking up the win earlier in the year at BAPS Motor Speedway in March, he had gone through somewhat of a drought, finishing only in the top five, but never picking up another win. That was until he drove through the field to pick up his first Midwest Legends Dirt Series Presented by Legend.Direct feature win of the season.
18 cars made the trip up north on the brisk Friday night for some great racing. Championship leader Jackson Lewis headlined the field looking to pick up another win. The most recent winner in the legend class at Gravity Park, Hayden Schmuhl made the hour trip to try and defend his title.
The night started off with heat racing, with heat one seeing Nate Werner and Tim Franz on the front row. The green flag flew on the field and attention turned to Jordan Miklas, who was making quick work from his fifth starting spot. Miklas quickly came under pressure from Jackson Lewis, who surged to the lead and the win. Miklas came home second with Dallas Ross third.
Cal Swenson started on the pole of heat two, with Hayden Schmuhl starting second. The green came out and catastrophe struck for Cal Swenson early, who was forced quickly to the infield with a mechanical issue. Schmuhl took the lead and never looked back, having to defend from Ryan Sullivan for a few laps. Schmuhl took home the win, with Sullivan in second and Brady Ascherien finishing third.
Lilly Fassbender started in the front in heat three, with Matt Gritt alongside in second. Fassbender got the jump on the field but quickly came under threat from Adam Zellmer, who passed Fassbender for the lead and picked up the third heat win. Fassbender came home second with Charlie Spoonmore wrapping up the top three.
With a redraw of nine for the feature, Charlie Spoonmore started from the pole of the feature, with Brady Ascherien starting second. Spoonmore took the green but dropped back early. Jordan Miklas took the race lead a handful of laps in up on the high side and put a gap on the field. Eyes turned to Jackson Lewis, who was making his way through the field from his ninth place starting spot. He made his way past Spoonmore and set up a long fight between himself, Adam Zellmer, and Ryan Sullivan. The three drivers fought it out for a number of laps before Sullivan and Lewis separated themselves and started to drive away from Zellmer. While the rest of the field battled, Jordan Miklas never looked back, picking up his first feature win of the season and first in Wisconsin. The battle between Sullivan and Lewis went down to the line, with 0.189 seconds separating the two of them at the line, with Sullivan taking home second leaving third for Lewis. Zellmer came home fourth with Spoonmore ending the night in fifth.
“Bellboy Motorsports had this #44 on rails last night. It was just a matter of time” Miklas said post-race.
Jordan Miklas picked up 25% off a full fire suit fit thanks to Rush RaceGear by Austin Witt as well as a buy-one-get-one wheel rim courtesy of Aero Race Wheel. Jackson Lewis picked up two awards for being the hard charger. $100 off any purchase thanks to Rush RaceGear by Austin Witt and $25 from SunSet Auto. Lilly Fassbender was picked to win the Sentry Receiver device from HMS Motorsports.
