Lewis Outduels the Field at the Dam

Beaver Dam, WI (June 16th, 2024) - After a hard-fought feature, Jackson Lewis continued to prove why he is the man to beat this season in the Midwest Legends Dirt Series Presented by Legends.Direct. Lewis’s second feature win of the season is also his biggest payday of his entire season, pocketing $400 and some good-looking hardware.

A season’s best 33 cars would make the trip on the second night of Beaver Dam’s weekend event. Championship leader Jordan Miklas headlined the field, with second place Jackson Lewis in the pits as well. Multi-time midget winner in 2024 Parker Jones made a surprise appearance on the night, in the Legends.Direct #13. A few drivers pulled double duty on the night, with Ryan Sullivan jumping between his legend and street stock as well as Ryan Mech jumping between his legend and sport mod.

Four heat races started the night off strong. Heat one saw fierce competition with Jackson Lewis picking up the win while Matt Gritt and Kim Clover picked up the podium spots. Heat two saw Parker Jones pick up the win followed closely by Ryan Sullivan and Glenn Mitchell. Heat three finished with Jordan Miklas taking the win with Adam Zellmer and Hunter Cardinal taking the other podium spots. The final Heat race of the night was won by Ryan Mech with Charlie Spoonmore and Colton Utley second and third.

Two b-mains were on the cards, with two drivers transferring from each race. B-main one saw a battle from flag to flag between eventual winner Hayden Schmuhl and second place driver Griffin McGrath. B-main two was dominated by Talyn Neuman, who went flag to flag for the win while Alex Haese picked up the final transfer spot.

After a long night, the MLDS feature was finally up. Matt Gritt got the draw and started from the pole while Glenn Mitchell started alongside him in second. The green flag flew on the field, and it quickly became a three-car battle, with Gritt, Mitchell, and Hunter Cardinal going at it before Jackson Lewis broke by to take second only to Mitchell. Two yellows quickly came out for some spun cars. The green flag came back out, and Lewis wasted no time to jump to the lead with Mitchell in second and Adam Zellmer now in third. A quick yellow for a car that did a pretty sick 360 and got going again came out shortly after. Single-file restarts ensued, and Lewis got the jump on the field once again. Zellmer slotted into the second-place spot with Sullivan, Mitchell, Cardinal, Michael Weber, Jordan Miklas, and Parker Jones all dicing it up for third. Sullivan and Weber were the best of that battle, and quickly got to a more intimate fight for the third-place position. Weber, who started thirteenth, made quick work of Sullivan and turned his attention to Zellmer while Miklas went to work on Sullivan. The caution flag flew once again for a spin from a car in turn two, bringing the pack back together. The field got back racing and Lewis got the jump once again. Weber and Miklas got to fighting with Zellmer for second with Weber moving past on lap fourteen. Weber set his sights on Lewis for the lead with Weber wanting a repeat of May 11th, where Weber became the first person to beat Lewis in the year during weekly racing at Maquoketa Speedway. With three laps left Weber found something on the bottom and began to close in on the #7L. It wouldn’t be enough though and Jackson Lewis continued his winning ways in 2024, picking up his second Midwest Legends Dirt Series Presented by Legends.Direct and another win this season. Weber brought home second and the hard-charger spot, up +11 spots on the night. Miklas continued his good run of form for the season with a third-place finish. Zellmer and Sullivan rounded out the top five on the night.

Jackson Lewis picked up yet another 25% off a full fire suit fit thanks to Rush RaceGear by Austin Witt as well as a buy-one-get-one wheel rim courtesy of Aero Race Wheel for the win. Michael Weber picked up two awards for being the hard-charger; $100 off any purchase thanks to Rush RaceGear by Austin Witt and $25 from SunSet Auto. Finally, a 15 was pulled out of the magical number bag meaning Payton Jones was picked to win the Sentry Receiver device from HMS Motorsports.

The Midwest Legends Dirt Series Presented by Legends.Direct will be back in action for a big double header in two weeks, on June 28th and June 29th, at Lafayette Speedway and Maquoketa Speedway.
