Buckwalter Tabbed for Gallagher Entry on USAC East Coast Trail
News broke late on Monday night that Tim Buckwalter of Douglasville, PA, would take control of the driving duties of the Bill Gallagher owned, Curt Michael prepared, Triple X chassis 5g entry starting this weekend at Big Diamond and Grandview, and taking the rest of the schedule race by race as Buckwalter's schedule allows.
Buckwalter, the veteran of open wheel competition is a two time 600cc micro sprint champion at the Action Track USA, in addition to a Speedstr championship. An ARDC midget champion, and a winner in 358 modified competition at both Grandview and Big Diamond.
When talking with Buckwalter, he said the following about the new combination and this upcoming weekend: “Its a good car. One of the best 360’s in the area. It is a big opportunity to work with Curt. We’re running two tracks that I have some laps at, and I’m excited to see how we do, and maybe come away with a win or two.”
Starting last season Buckwalter moved on to his next challenge, full size sprint car competition. Buckwalter and the LNB Motorsports team ran a partial schedule with the AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car series in 2018 with numerous successful runs that saw the team make starts in Florida, all of the Eastern Storm, Indiana Sprint Week and a handful of other starts culminating with Buckwalter being the 2018 USAC National Sprint car rookie of the year. 2019 Has started off as good as where the teams 2018 season has ended with the team tied for 13th in points with Dave Darland, strong finishes, and setting quick time in Florida and adjusting to racing with a new DRC Chassis. The team had a good weekend in Eldora running with the national series, with Buckwalter stating that they have to work on their feature set up.
The potent duo will get right to action this weekend as the Rapid Tire, USAC East Coast Sprint Car series has an action packed doubleheader weekend at the Big Diamond and Grandview Speedway’s. Buckwalter will be doing double duty on Saturday running his regular 358 modified and the sprint car.
