USAC Wingless Sprints Oklahoma Spotlight Driver: # 19 Justin “Turtle” Dunn
Q/A
Breakfast of choice? Justin says that a Monster Energy Drink is what he needs to start his day or he goes nowhere.
Favorite track? The 3/8 mile of 81 Speedway in Park City, Kansas
1st race car? Justin’s first race car was a Mini Stock that he drove in the 2008 season. 2018 makes his 2nd full season in a Sprint Car.
Favorite sport other thank racing? Baseball – Justin grew up playing baseball and now his kids are growing up playing it as well.
Favorite Race Car Driver? Kenneth Walker
Why the # 19? Justin said that there is no real reason why he runs the #19, he just likes the number. The green color has a bit of special meaning because his 4 year old son Brantley Dunn chose the color because it is the same color as his cerebral palsy ribbon. That really has a lot of coolness to it as I’m sure you will all agree.
Where did you get the nickname? ”Turtle” came about because it was given to me by my 8th grade football coach. Back then I was as wide as tall and the nickname has stuck with me ever since.
Justin ran 1 season in a sprint car with a wing and then took the wings at last year’s Ironman Race and liked it much better. He has ran Wingless this 2018 race season.
Car Owner/Crew Chief: Sarah Dunn (Justin’s wife), this is a title that has meaning as I have seen her get after it on several occasions & the young lady is not afraid to get her hands dirty.
Crew: Uncle Jason Dunn, Nephew Dominick Dunn, Son Blayze Dunn, his 4 year old son Brantley Dunn. The team also gets help from Grant Rushing and Jerry McVay.
Sponsors: Gary Frey of The Race Shop, Wilson Gang Artworks, Glass to Go, Lacor Tubing, Big One’s Striper Fishing of Rogers, Arkansas.
I really enjoyed talking to Justin and you can tell he just enjoys racing and does so on a tight budget. Justin, his wife Sarah and family do the best they with what they have to make it to each race and I’m not sure you’ll find anyone who is having more fun just racing.
