-Local Race Teams to Assist in Charitable Food Drive Donations-

North East, PA – (May 23, 2018) – Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series and Race of Champions Late Model Series teams are being asked to “pitch in” at Lake Erie Speedway on Saturday, June 9, 2018 in support of the Northwest Pennsylvania Food Drive.

Recently, Lake Erie Speedway management offered fans a free ticket promotion if they bring a non-perishable food item(s) for the Second Harvest Food Bank on Saturday, June 9, 2018. This is a great opportunity to make a contribution to the community and offer assistance to those in need.

Fans that purchase an Adult General Admission ticket to the June 9, 2018 event that bring a non-perishable donation(s) will receive a second adult General Admission and a child’s General Admission ticket for free.

“We are looking to help some of the less fortunate people in our community,” stated Lake Erie Speedway Operations Manager, A.J. Moore. “We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to do what we love to do. There are other folks out there who just need a break and we feel this is a way to give something back to our community. The Second Harvest Food Bank of North West Pennsylvania provides a great service for our community and we are glad to try and help them.”

The Race of Champions, that holds the prestigious and annual Race of Champions Weekend at Lake Erie Speedway in the fall, is requesting that all race teams bring a canned good or non-perishable item to show their support of the speedway and the speedway’s commitment to the community.

The racing event will also see the return of the Race of Champions Late Model Series to the facility that opened in 2002, giving fans an exciting card of racing for June 9. The ticket promotion gives many fans an economical opportunity to see a racing event at a beautiful facility while helping out the less fortunate in the community.

The Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania is the largest nonprofit food distribution organization in northwest Pennsylvania and the only food bank in the region. Second Harvest distributes millions of pounds of grocery products each year to hundreds of nonprofit agencies that directly serve people facing hard times in 11 counties. Recipients, who receive food free of charge, include unemployed and underemployed workers, the homeless, senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, families in crisis situations and children. A total of 167,700 unduplicated individuals receive food from Second Harvest each year. This number represents one in four people in northwest Pennsylvania.
