RACE OF CHAMPIONS SERIES HAS EXCITING NIGHT OF RACING PLANNED FOR LAKE ERIE SPEEDWAY THIS SATURDAY ASPHALT MODIFIED SERIES RETURNS TO ACTION WITH LATE

The Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series swings back into action, while the Race of Champions Late Model Series takes to the track for the first time this season on Saturday, June 9, at the beautiful Lake Erie Speedway in North East, PA, with the running of the “Lake Erie 75” presented by Jim Moss Builders for the Modifieds and the “CPS 40” for Late Models.

“This will be an exciting card of racing for the fans and will be a prelude to the 68th Annual Race of Champions Weekend that takes place at Lake Erie in late September, including the 68th Annual Race of Champions 250,” stated RoC Promoter Joe Skotnicki.

Patrick Emerling of Orchard Park, NY, kicked off the Modified Series season with win at Lancaster Speedway (NY) on May 12.

“Lake Erie is an exciting track,” offered Emerling. “It has multiple grooves which makes exciting racing for the fans. We’re looking forward to it.”

On the Late Model side, veteran Late Model pilot Bob Weber of Clarence, N.Y., is looking forward to racing.

“We’ve had a long winter off and our opener saw inclement weather, so this is our start,” stated Weber. “It couldn’t come at a better track. We are really excited about kicking things off and getting going at Erie this weekend.”

Lake Erie Speedway management is offering fans a free ticket promotion if they bring a non-perishable food item(s) for the Second Harvest Food Bank on Saturday. This is a great opportunity to make a contribution to the community and offer assistance to those in need. Fans that purchase an Adult General Admission ticket to the June 9, 2018, event who bring a non-perishable donation(s) will receive a second adult General Admission and a child’s General Admission ticket for free.

The Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania is the largest nonprofit food distribution organization in northwest Pennsylvania and the only food bank in the region. Second Harvest distributes millions of pounds of grocery products each year to hundreds of nonprofit agencies that directly serve people facing hard times in 11 counties. Recipients, who receive food free of charge, include unemployed and underemployed workers, the homeless, senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, families in crisis situations and children. A total of 167,700 unduplicated individuals receive food from Second Harvest each year. This number represents one in four people in northwest Pennsylvania.
