BUSY WEEKEND OF RACE WINNERS IN RACE OF CHAMPIONS “FAMILY OF SERIES” COMPETITION

With Race of Champions Series officials logging over 600-miles between four race tracks from Friday to Sunday and presenting four events several drivers had the opportunity to compete and ultimately visit victory lane.

The Race of Champions “Family of Series” competed at Spencer Speedway in Williamson, NY and Ohsweken (Ontario-Canada) Speedway this past Friday; Chemung (NY) Speedrome and Wyoming County International Speedway “The Bullring” in Perry, NY this past Sunday afternoon as part of a “Father’s Day’ special that wrapped up an exciting weekend of racing.

Zane Zeiner of Bath, NY, highlighted the weekend making a late race move past Jack Ely of Northampton, Pa., and went on to win the 300th race in the history Race of Champions Modified Series at Chemung (NY) Speedrome.

“This race is dedicated to the Canfield family on the loss of their Dad,” stated Zeiner from victory lane. “This Series is like a family and winning this race meant a great deal to me. I’m thankful my family and team helping me get here, it’s been circled on our calendar.”

Austin Beers of Northampton, Pa., finished second with Paulie Hartwig, III of Galloway, NJ, finishing third. Roger Coss of Lafayette, NJ and Andy Jankowiak of Tonawanda, NY rounded out the top-five.

Matt Hirschman of Northampton, Pa turned in the fastest time in green-white-checker qualifying and won a qualifying race, while Zeiner and Ely won the other qualifying races.

Andy Jankowiak of Tonawanda, NY scored the win Sunday at Wyoming County International Speedway “The Bullring” in Perry, NY. Jankowiak held off Alan Bookmiller of Castile, NY and Andy Lewis, Jr., of Ontario, NY to score the victory.

Jake Christman of Walnutport, Pa., remains perfect in Race of Champions Super Stock Series competition as he scored his third consecutive victory at “The Bullring” on Sunday over Garrett Zacharias of Candor, NY and Josh Hunter of Derby, NY.

Nick Robinson of Waverly, NY, parked his Race of Champions FOAR SCORE Four Cylinder Dash Series machine in victory lane in back-to-back races at Chemung and Wyoming.

Cody McPherson of St. Catherines, Ontario-Canada won the opening Race of Champions dirt 602 Sportsman Modified Series race Friday evening at Ohsweken Speedway. McPherson outran James-Michael Friesen of St. Catherines, Ontario-Canada and Noah Mamo of Ridgeway, Ontario to visit victory lane once again.

Dave Helliwell of Pelham, NH, won an exciting SMAC 350 race in their debut at Spencer Speedway in Williamson, NY on Friday evening. Mike Muldoon of Baldwinsville, NY and George Helliwell of Dover, NH, rounded out the top-three.

Dan Kapuczinski of Oswego, NY, scored the Jake’s Automotive SBS Limited Super Modified Series victory over Griffin Miller and Russ Brown.

Blake Giglio of Williamson, NY, won the Wilbert’s U-Pull It Four Cylinders and Ashley Schoonmaker scored another Wilbert’s U-Pull It Super Six feature victory on Friday.

The next race for the Race of Champions “Family of Series” is Thursday, June 27 at Lancaster (NY) Motorplex for the Race of Champions Modified Series and Saturday, June 29 at Wyoming County International Speedway “The Bulling” in Perry, NY for the Race of Champions Sportsman Modified Series.

The Race of Champions is a sanctioning body presenting Modified and Stock Car racing on asphalt and dirt surfaces throughout the Northeast, with events in New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey with primary marketing partners Hoosier Racing Tire, VP Racing Fuels, Racing America, Airport Collision, Rocket Performance, Waddell Communications, Image X Design, Sherwood Racing Wheels, DirtTrackDigest.com and Speed Sport. The 72nd and 74th annual Race of Champions weekend will take place in 2024 at Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pennsylvania and is the second longest consecutive auto-racing event in North America, second only to the Indianapolis 500.
