Jim Bernheisel bags Top-5 finish in ULMS event at Selinsgrove

Taking part in the Zimmer’s United Late Model Series (ULMS) Labor Day weekend tripleheader, Bryan Bernheisel invaded Bedford Speedway (Bedford, Pa.) on Friday afternoon for the Labor Day 55. After topping the 35-car field in time trials, Bernheisel streaked to a heat race victory, which positioned him on the pole for the $7,055-to-win A-Main. Blasting into the lead on the drop of the green flag, Bryan set the pace for the first 44 circuits until a caution for another competitor realigned the field. With right-front damage from contact with a lapped-car earlier in the race dropping him from contention on the restart, Bernheisel was sidelined for the final 11 circuits.

The following night at Port Royal Speedway (Port Royal, Pa.) for the Butch Renninger Memorial, Bryan timed in third fastest in his group before placing third in his heat. With $5,333 on the line, Bernheisel faded five spots in the 33-lapper to place 14th.

Later that evening for the ULMS make-up feature from August 1st, Bernheisel dropped two spots in the 25-lap affair to register a 10th place finish.

On Sunday afternoon, Bryan and Jim headed to Selinsgrove Speedway (Selinsgrove, Pa.) for the $4,000-to-win finale. In a field of 27 cars, Bryan dropped three spots in his heat to finish fifth while Jim marched forward three spots to come home second behind Hayes Mattern. Starting the feature in third, Jim dropped two spots in the 30-lapper to place fifth behind Jeff Rine, Max Blair, Jared Miley, and Gregg Satterlee. Bryan salvaged a 10th place finish after visiting the pit area with 10 laps remaining.
