ASCS Sooner Scheduled is Revealed
Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (January 6, 2011) – The American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region has been bringing the best of Sprint Car racing to the Sooner State and surrounding areas for the past ten years and 2011 will be no exception.
The ASCS Sooner Region is currently set for 15 nights of action at seven different tracks throughout Oklahoma as well as neighboring portions of Kansas, Texas and Missouri in 2011.
The series is set to kick off the 2011 slate just south of the Oklahoma-Kansas state line at Mid-America Speedway in South Coffeyville, OK, on April 2, the first of two Mid-America stops with a return visit on September 17.
From Mid-America, the next stop is in Missouri with the first of two tilts versus the new ASCS Warrior Region at Springfield Raceway on April 23, with a Springfield encore set for July 2.
After taking on their Missouri foes, the action shifts south of the Red River with a showdown versus the ASCS Lone Star Region at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, TX, on May 7. A two-nighter, again with the Lone Star Region, follows on June 17-18 with $2,000 to win on both nights.
The Sooner forces take to Lawton Speedway, a Sooner staple since the series inception in 2001, for the first of four events on May 14 with ensuing events on June 4, July 16 and August 20. The July 16 event is one of four Red River Showdown events with the ASCS Lone Star Region.
The ASCS Sooner Region will also venture into Kansas over Memorial day weekend for the Third Annual Steve King Memorial at the Jetmore Motorplex on May 28-29. With $3,000 to win each night, this event replaces the Lucas Oil ASCS National event originally scheduled at that time.
Another pair of Oklahoma ovals are on the docket as well, including Outlaw Motor Speedway near Muskogee on July 15 and then the season finale at Muskogee’s Thunderbird Speedway on October 8.
