Bellm Off to Texas after Warrior Triple

Lonnie Wheatley, NIXA, Mo. (September 11, 2015) – Kyle Bellm gets his first taste of Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday night following a weekend of ASCS Warrior Region competition in his home state of Missouri.

The leading Rookie of the Year contender aboard the PPG Automotive Finishes/Colorvision No. 14k Sprint Car with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour, Bellm gets back into the swing of the National scene after a weekend of Regional action that kicked off with a top-ten at Scotland County Speedway.

Bellm spent the Missouri weekend aboard the Hockett Racing No. 77 rather than his familiar mount.

“It’s always a lot of fun driving for those guys, we had a good time,” Bellm said. “The results didn’t really pan out the way we might have liked, but it’s always good to get a little more seat time.”

After a ninth-place run at Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, MO, on Friday, Bellm was poised to finish off the weekend in strong fashion at Moberly’s Randolph County Raceway on Sunday.

“We started 13th and were up to about seventh or eighth,” Bellm relates. “We had a shot of at least the top five.”

A top five wasn’t meant to be however, as a blown power steering hose put a halt to Bellm’s drive towards the front.

With a weekend of Regional racing in the books, it’s back to business on the National Tour in the Schure Built Suspensions/Christian County Collision Repair Sprint Car.

“It will be good to be back in my own car,” Bellm says of Saturday’s stop at the Portacool U.S. National Dirt Track Championship at Texas Motor Speedway, the first National event since he was caught up in an incident at Sedalia on August 23. Saturday’s event at the Fort Worth track marks the first of three consecutive weekends of ASCS National Tour competition.

“We’re looking forward to the rest of the year, we’re hoping to finish off the season in the top ten each night,” Bellm explained.

Saturday’s event at Texas Motor Speedway will be the first visit to the facility for Bellm and the Bybee Lawn Care/Dynotech Racing Engines team.

“I’ve never seen the place aside from driving by it on the highway,” Bellm says. “It’s a nice place though, I’m looking forward to it and I think we’ll be good there.”

Bellm and the Scheaffer’s Oil team look to finish out their rookie effort on the ASCS National Tour with a string of top-ten finishes. The stretch run begins Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway.

Up Next: Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour action resumes on Saturday with the Portacool U.S. Dirt Track Championship at Fort Worth’s Texas Motor Speedway.
