Hafertepe Jr. Dominates at Timberline to Score Third ASCS Red River Triumph

Inside Line Promotions – CORLEY, Texas (Oct. 6, 2015) – Sam Hafertepe Jr. returned to Victory Lane last Saturday at Timberline Speedway, which became the third different track that he and car owner Keith Dobbs have won ASCS Red River Region races this season.
“It went real well,” Hafertepe Jr. said. “When we got there the track was quite a bit slicker than we imagined. That caught us off-guard in the heat race. We managed to get through there and run second.”
The second-place result was good enough to lock Hafertepe Jr. into the feature redraw. He pulled the No. 3 during the random draw to line up on the inside of the second row for the main event.
“We made a swing at it to find something,” he said. “Lately what we’ve been doing is testing some things to get better for down the road. We hit on something really, really good.”
Hafertepe Jr. powered into the lead going into the first corner.
“We dominated most of the feature until right at the end,” he said. “It laid rubber and we got caught in traffic, but we managed to get the victory. In the final two or three laps it was a one-groove track. It was tough to get around lapped cars and it allowed Blake Hahn to get close to us.”
The victory also marked the fourth time the team has won since late July.
“It’s been really good,” Hafertepe Jr. said. “In all honesty it’s been better than I expected. To start off a new deal that neither one of us knew about, with new cars and new motors, to jump right in there and be as comfortable as I’ve been it’s been great.”
Hafertepe Jr. and Dobbs will compete this Saturday at Lonestar Speedway in Kilgore, Texas, with the ASCS Red River Region. Hafertepe Jr. hasn’t raced at his family-owned track since October 2012.
