Inside Line Promotions – HIGHLANDS, Texas (Oct. 27, 2015) – Channin Tankersley is hoping his fortune will turn around at the 28th annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals this week.

Tankersley will drive for Bruce Griffith during the marquee Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., where the competition begins on Wednesday with the Short Track Nationals Open. Tankersley’s Short Track Nationals preliminary night is Thursday with the event concluding on Saturday.

“I’ve been going there on and off for the past eight or nine years,” he said. “I somewhat know what to expect. You just have to have a good, clean preliminary night from start to finish. Last year we had a really strong start and then got involved in a crash, which sealed our fate for the rest of the weekend. It’d be nice to lock in (by finishing in the top three during a preliminary night), but if we can get a clean night I’ll be happy.”

Last year Tankersley won a heat race before he was involved in a crash during a qualifier. That effectively ended his chances at claiming the $15,000 prize for winning the event.

Tankersley qualified for the Saturday finale in 2013 for the first time. He placed 16th in the feature after being caught up in a crash.

“We were running inside the top 10 when someone crashed in front of us and it took us out,” he said. “Short Track Nationals hasn’t been very good to me. Hopefully we can turn that around this year.”
