SAPULPA, Okla. (September 14, 2016) Taking in ASCS regional action at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track, the Lucas Oil Products/JR1 Chassis No. 52 piloted by Blake Hahn walked away from the four-tenths mile oval with a third place finish with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products.

Earning the bronze finish off the final turn of the feature event, Hahn had to put the slide on John Carney II to earn the spot.

“John [Carney] was tough to pass. He was running a good line and was able to keep his speed up, so getting the timing off the bottom was tricky,” said Hahn.

Working high on the racing surface early, Hahn began working the low line in the latter of the race.

“I tried the bottom early, and that didn’t work. I ended up switching my line to entering in the middle then coming out to the cushion so I could keep my speed up. When I did that, I was able to start going forward but once we got into traffic, I had to move to the bottom and figured out how to make the car rotate and get off the corner, but on an open track with clean air, you really had to keep your wing speed up.”

Coming up next, Hahn will make his first trip of the season to the I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark. for the Ralph Henson Memorial. Blake plans to be in POWRi Midget and Sprint Car competition.

“I really enjoy going to I-30 Speedway and this weekend will be a good chance to work on the Midget. We had a little bit of a rough outing the first time we ran this year, so we’re looking forward to get back to it this weekend. Originally, we were going to run the Midget and we had a ride lineup for the Micro, but with the event getting changed up at the last minute, we decided to run the Sprint Car, especially since the race pays $4,646 to win.”
