Inside Line Promotions – ELDON, Mo. (Sept. 5, 2018) – Alex Hill gained experience among a large field of cars and she picked up a heat race win in her first visit to Lake Ozark Speedway last weekend during the 9th annual LOS 360 Sprint Car Nationals.

Hill’s first competitive laps at the track were impressive as she scored a victory on Saturday during the opening night of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com doubleheader.

“There were three of us together in turn four on the first lap of the heat race,” she said. “I was on the bottom and I was able to get the lead coming out of the turn and held it for the rest of the race. The car handled well and it was nice to win my first race there. The track was really slick and you had to use a lot of throttle control, be smooth and try not to spin your tires.”

Hill started fifth in her qualifier.

“I was running in sixth, but I got into the slick in turns three and four, got sideways and lost a couple of spots and finished eighth,” she said. “That was frustrating because it cost us a starting spot in the A Main.”

Hill narrowly missed a spot into the main event so she led the field to the green in her B Main from the pole.

“I went into the first turn too hard, got sideways and got hit,” she said. “It did enough damage to the front end to keep us from continuing.”

Sunday’s night of racing began with Hill lining up in the fourth starting spot in her heat race.

“We had a pretty tough heat with the competition that was in it and ended up finishing sixth,” she said. “The car was good. I just need to get better on the slick tracks.”

Her finish slotted her in the ninth starting position in a B Main.

“I started out well in the B Main and was able to move forward a bit,” she said. “But then I lost some spots since I was running down low when I should’ve been up high where it was faster. I finished ninth.”

Hill will return home this Friday for her final race at Ohsweken Speedway in Ohsweken, Ontario, Canada, before the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals the following weekend.

“I’m looking forward to going back to Ohsweken and getting some more laps in before the Nationals,” she said. “The track is different now that they’ve added more dirt and I need some more time racing there.”
