Tankersley Closing in on Third ASCS Gulf South Region Championship

Inside Line Promotions – HIGHLANDS, Texas (Sept. 18, 2018) – Channin Tankersley has an opportunity to accomplish a new feat in the near future as he’s on the cusp of his third career ASCS Gulf South Region championship.

The Old School Racing driver, who won regional titles in 2014 and 2016, owns a 129-point lead in the championship standings entering the season finale this Saturday at Battleground Speedway.

“We’ve had a lot of success at Battleground over the years,” he said. “I’m very comfortable and confident rolling in there. Hopefully we can put another win on the board.”

Tankersley has won his last two starts at the track and he placed second during his only other race there this year.

“We’ve had a great car pretty much every time out this year,” he said. “Not only have we been consistent, we’ve been fast. That gives us a ton of confidence knowing that night in and night out we can contend for wins.”

Tankersley leads the region with eight podium finishes, including seven in a row, and nine top fives in 10 races. He also hasn’t finished outside of the top 10 during a 360ci winged sprint car race this season.

Additionally, Tankersley leads the region with five feature victories. That is tied for his most earned in a single season.
