$5,000 To Win ASCS Southwest Cooper Classic This Weekend At Arizona Speedway

Bryan Hulbert – QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. (November 20, 2018) The final weekend of action for the 2018 season with the ASCS Southwest Region is the biggest event of the year for the Arizona based tour as the series headlines the Copper Classic at Queen Creek’s Arizona Speedway.

Running Friday, November 23 and Saturday, November 24, the post-Thanksgiving serving of mud and methanol will serve up $2,000 to Friday’s winner, with Saturday’s top finisher banking $5,000. The third edition of the Copper Classic, California’s D.J. Netto has been perfect thus far when it comes to Saturday’s finale.

Attracting drivers from across North America, names like Jack Dover, Matt Covington, Justyn Cox, and Robbie Price are all making their way to Arizona Speedway.

With extra money on the line, the format for the double-header weekend will again see single car qualifying to set the night’s Heat Race lineups. Four Heat Races will take the top four from each to the A-Feature. Five Heat Races will take the top three in each. The top two finishers in Friday’s A-Feature will lock into Saturday’s finale.

Both nights will deal out full points for the ASCS Southwest Region with is lead by New Mexico’s Jesse Baker by 17 markers over nine-time ASCS Southwest Champion, Rick Ziehl and only 27 points ahead of Billy Chester.

Colton Hardy in fourth is chased by Alex Pettas to make up the top five.

Friday, November 23 and Saturday, November 24 both open at 3:00 P.M. with Qualifying at 5:50 P.M. (MT). Friday admission is $20, while Saturday is $25. Arizona Speedway is located at 47800 N.
