3-Race Salute to America Nationals Up Next for CRUSA Late Models

ADAIRSVILLE, GA – The three-race Salute To America Nationals is up next for the Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA Dirt Late Model Series. Clarksville Speedway in Clarksville, TN is set for Thursday night, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL is on for Saturday night, and the finale will be at Cochran Motor Speedway in Cochran, GA on Saturday night.

Round 5 of the 2020 Newsome Raceway Parts Dirt Late Model Series on Thursday night at Clarksville Speedway will be a $2,000-to-win $200-to-start 40-lap race. Talladega Short Track is Round 6 of the 2020 season on Friday night and Round 7 at Cochran Motor Speedway on Saturday night will each host a $2,500-to-win $250-to-start race.

Clarksville Speedway will be the “Wild Card” race, as the Newsome Raceway Parts Dirt Late Model Series will be making its first appearance at the 1/-4mile clay oval since 2007. The series top drivers will be on neutral ground. Talladega Short Track and Cochran Motor Speedway will favor the top three in the National point standings.

Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL leads the Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA National standings with 372 points. In the first four races of the 2020 season, Skinner has one win, three top five finishes and four top ten finishes. Talladega Short Track is Skinner’s home track in looking for his second win of the season.

Cody Overton of Grovetown, GA is second in the Newsome Raceway Parts Dirt Late Model Series National standings with 354 points. Overton has one win, and three top five finishes in the first four races. Overton’s win came in the season opener at Cochran Motor Speedway on May 23. Overton also leads the Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year point standings.

Wil Herrington of Hawkinsville, GA has Cochran Motor Speedway circled in red on his 2020 Newsome Raceway Parts Dirt Late Model Series schedule. Herrington is third in the National Touring standings with 346 points after two wins, two top fives, and two Fast Time honors.

Herrington’s first win came at his home track, Cochran Motor Speedway on May 24, and he is fresh off his second win of the season last Saturday night at Mountain View Raceway in Spring City, TN. Herrington also has a Cochran Motor Speedway win in the Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA Winter Shootout Series on March 15.

Corey Dunn of Milledgeville, GA is fourth in the National standings with 328 points, and he is second in the Rookie points. T.J. Brittain of Centre, AL is fifth with 314 points, and Jody Knowles of Tyrone, GA is sixth with 302 points. Marcus Minga of Shannon, MS is seventh with 272 points, while Troy Dixon of Dallas, GA in eighth in the National standings with 268 points and third in Rookie points.

The top eight drivers in the National points have competed in all four races this season. Ahnna Parkhurst of Evans, GA is ninth in the National standings with 258 points, and Parker Martin of Milledgeville, GA rounds out the top ten with 256 points in the National standings. Martin is fourth in the Rookie points. Both Parkhurst and Martin have appeared in three races.

Ryan Boudreaux of Harvey, LA is just outside the top ten in the National standings with 248 points in the 11th spot, and he has appeared in all four races. Trynt Lloyd of Jacksonville, FL is 12th with 218 points in three starts, and Ty Ellis of Covington, GA is 13th with 200 points. Lloyd and Ellis both have three starts and are fifth and sixth respectively in the Rookie points. Blake Smith of East Dublin, GA is 15th with 170 points.

On Thursday at Clarksville Speedway, the gates open at 4 p.m. Central Time with Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Drivers Meeting is set for 5:30 p.m., with Hot Laps scheduled for 6 p.m. and Racing at 7:30 p.m.
