Crate Racin' USA Dirt Late Model Series
KING OF THE CRATES RACE AT NAS POSTPONED UNTIL OCTOBER 18
ADAIRSVILLE, GA – Crate Racin’ USA and North Alabama Speedway officials have announced that Saturday’s $3,000-to-win 4th Annual King of the Crates Race for the Newsome Raceway Parts Dirt Late Model Series has been postponed due to the forecasted path remnants of Hurricane Delta will be taking this weekend. The race has been rescheduled for Sunday, October 18.
The gates at North Alabama Speedway will open on October 18 at 12:30 p.m. Central Time, with Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin; USA Dirt Late Model Series Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection from 12:30 p.m. until the start of the Drivers Meeting at 1:45 p.m. Hot Laps are scheduled for 2 p.m. with racing to follow.
“We rescheduled the race on a Sunday to avoid scheduling conflicts with other tracks, events in the area, and other events,” Crate Racin’ USA Director Adam Stewart said. “It is our hope to have the show completed and have everyone on the road home by 5 p.m.”
This is the second postponement of the King of the Crates Race, as it was rained out just before Boyd Built Fabricators Group Qualifying on September 12. It will also be the second time the race has been contested on a Sunday afternoon.
The 2019 National Champion Jake Knowles was ordained as King Jake II on Sunday afternoon, September 30, 2018. The track took rubber from top to bottom under the sun but did not lock down and provided the fans and competitors with some great racing action.
King Jeremy III Shaw of Millport, AL is the defending race winner, and two-time series Champion King Cory I Hedgecock of Loudon, TN won the inaugural race in 2017. Jimmy Thomas of Phenix City, AL won the preliminary 40-lap King of the Crate Race at North Alabama Speedway on September 11.
