Dover dominates again at I-90

Hartford, SD (July 25, 2020): There was no stopping the 53 car again at I-90 Speedway, as the driver took home his third win of the season at the Hartford, SD track. Tonight, however, was the most profitable for the Springfield, NE native as the Midwest Power Series feature paid a cool $2,000 to win.

There was action aplenty in the feature event. As the field came to green it was most recent winner at I-90 Ryan Bickett and crowd favorite Chuck McGillivray setting the pace. Lap one went to Ryan Bickett, with James Broty coming from his third starting spot to take second, and Jack Dover quickly moving from sixth to third. Just two laps later Dover would maneuver his 53 machine to the bottom of the speedway to take second from Broty. From there it would not take long. On lap six Jack Dover took the race lead from Ryan Bickett and would not look back, collecting his fourth career Midwest power series win, putting him in a tie for second all time.

The action behind the leader was just getting started. On lap 13 after a hard fought battle, James Broty used the middle of the speedway to move into second, and two laps later Justin Jacobsma would move into third. Soon after on lap 15 a caution would come out for a spinning John Lambertz, erasing a 3.1 second advantage for Dover. James Broty could not do anything on the restart to gain the lead, again watching the 53 sail into the distance. Late on in proceedings, tenth starter Greg Bakker moved into the top five and eventually into the fourth finishing spot.

The win was Jack Dover’s Fourth career Midwest Power Series win, and his 31st MSTS win as well. It came ahead of James Broty, Justin Jacobsma, Gregg Bakker, and Ryan Bickett. Chuck McGillivray, Lee Goos Jr, Chase Viebrock, Eric Lutz, and Derrik Lusk would make up the top 10. Greg Bakker would earn the hard charger bonus, advancing six positions. James Broty, Scotty Broty, and Ryan Bickett were heat race winners, picking up a $100 bonus from Broty Racing Engines for their efforts.

Jack was quick to credit his crew in victory lane, saying that his crew members in the infield advised him to continue to the bottom of the speedway on the lap 14 restart, allowing him to maintain the lead and go on the victory.
