SABRASKI PADS SUPER STOCK SERIES POINT LEAD

Shane Sabraski of Rice, MN added to his Fastlane Motorsports Super Stock Series point lead with a sweep Friday night at Gondik Law Speedway. A total of 44 WISSOTA Super Stocks were on hand to compete in the third of five Series events.
Also on the card were the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, Pure Stocks and Hornets for a total of 91 cars. Competition on the big four tenths mile banked oval with qualifying heats in all four divisions.
Defending track and WISSOTA National Champion Cory Jorgensen topped the only 11 car heat over Trevor Treviranus. There were two heats in the WISSOTA Hornets won by Kristy Marken and the second went to two-time feature winner Jase Wiarda. Midwest Modified heats went to Ryan Savoy and Chris Bretting.
There were five heats in the headlining Super Stock division. Dave Flynn topped the first one, Keith Kern won the second heat, Sabraski won the third heat, Josh Zimpel was the fourth heat winner and former track champion Nick Oreskovich won heat number five.
There were a pair of Semi-Features advancing two competitors from each one to fill out the main event field. Superior's Andy Grymala and John Adams advanced form the first Semi Feature and Chris Wark and Danny Thomas in his first race in some time, advanced to the 30 lap feature.
Up first for feature action were the Midwest Modifieds with all 19 cars answering the call. Newcomer Eric Gadach started from the pole flanked by defending track champion Andrew Inman. The first attempt at starting the 20 lap event went for naught as three cars tangled in turn four bringing out the first of two caution flags. Dalton Mains, Jack Rivord and Gunnar Peterson were involved. Mains and Peterson were able to continue but Rivord's mount went off on the hook. Inman led the pack to the green flag at the restart with Ryan Savoy, Brady Uotinen, Cody Carlson and Gadach trailing. Carlson got by Uotinen in the second turn and set out after Savoy. Further back and moving forward were McLean Andrews, Skeeter Estey, Jason Schill and Jimmy Latvala. At the half way point with Inman still out front, Carlson and Savoy were in a skirmish for second and Carlson made the pass for second. At this point the second caution flag for debris on the track bunched up the field with eight laps remaining. The restart saw Carlson make his move, swung past Savoy and Inman to the lead and began to move away headed for his first feature win since returning to the Midwest Modifieds. Unfortunately, this was not to be as, with three laps to go, Carlson's car suffered a flat tire leaving the win to Inman. Andrews, Savoy, Uotinen and Latvala rounded out the top five.
Next up was the 12 lap main event for the Pure Stocks. Jared Akervik and Tanner Gehl led the pack to the green flag and Akervik jumped into the lead but the caution flag flew when Cory Jorgensen's machine stalled in the fourth turn. With no laps completed, it was a complete restart and Akervik assumed the lead
with Gehl, Aaron Bernick, Jorgensen and Trevor Treviranus in the top five. The event would be completed without another caution flag. Akervik continued to lead as there was some shuffling behind him. Jorgensen moved to third behind Bernick, then made the pass for second. Meanwhile moving forward from his 10th starting spot was former track champion James Vendela as he slid into third. Akervik began to open a gap on the second place battle as the pair raced side by side. Akervik went on to win his fourth feature of the season and Vendela captured runner up honors. Bernick got past Jorgensen when he got trapped behind the lapped car of David Peterson.
Another twelve lap feature was up next, this one for the Hornet division. Josh Rowe led the first two laps with Andy Lieno, Kristy Marken and AJ House behind. Marken made her way past into the lead followed by heat two winner Jase Wiarda. Lieno, Carson Gotelaere, Rowe and House. Marken extended her lead, but Jacob White got into the fourth turn wall and rolled over his #73 bringing out a rare red flag condition. White was not injured and when racing resumed, Marken was still in the lead but House was right there to contend for the win. Marken was holding her own against House, but, with three laps remaining, House was able to get past and go on for the win. Marken was a strong second with Hunter
McDougall third, Gotelaere fourth and the #74 of Reid Johnson fifth.
Then it was time for the 30 lap main event for the Northern Super Stock Series to roll onto the track. Keith Kern's #8 was on the pole alongside the potent #7A piloted by Series point leader Shane Sabraski. At the green Sabraski out dragged Kern to the first turn and grabbed the lead. Dave Flynn, Nick Oreskovich and Josh Zimpel in the top five. Moving forward into the battle was Matt Deragon from seventh and Tim Johnson from ninth. Also making his way into the top ten was the previous night's winner Kevin Burdick. The only caution flag of the event flew when Danny Thomas' #40 slowed on the front stretch and rolled into the infield. The restart came with 19 laps to go and Sabraski easily pulled away from Flynn, Deragon, Kern and Oreskovich. Burdick took advantage of the caution period to move into fifth during the restart shuffle. While Sabraski motored away, Deragon, Flynn and Oreskovich fell into a three-way battle for the second spot, sometimes three wide. With the last third of the laps under way, Sabraski was uncatchable as Flynn won the skirmish with Oreskovich, Deragon and Tim Johnson in the top five. The order looked to stay in that order to the checkered flag, but problems ended Flynn's night prematurely as he ended up a DNF in 20th place. Deragon finished a strong second, Oreskovich third, Johnson fourth and Burdick fifth. Rounding out the top ten were Dexton Koch, Kyle Copp, Cory Casari, Shawn McFadden and Austin Niemeyer.
Sabraski's dominating performance gave him a total of nine wins on the season in the Super Stocks at Gondik Law Speedway thus far.
