Dakota Albright opens BCRA Lightning Sprint season with Placerville Speedway triumph

Placerville, CA…After earning a single victory last year Waterford’s Dakota Albright came out strong on opening night and raced to victory with the BCRA Lightning Sprints at Placerville Speedway on Saturday.

Albright sat out front for a majority of the contest, but was kept honest by Livermore’s Greg Dennett, who stalked him every step of the way. The 2021 Bay Cities Racing Association champion never faltered though and eventually crossed under the Ron Stahl checkered flag for the win.

“I could not be happier right now,” stated an exuberant Albright, who began the evening as part of a special memorial lap honoring the late Carla McCreary. “I want to dedicate this one to Carla tonight. It was all about honoring her memory and to pick up a win is just icing on the cake. I want to thank everyone for coming out to Placerville Speedway and all the people that support this team.”

The 20-lap BCRA Lightning Sprint finale at the Spring Fever Frenzy came to the line with Albright on the pole alongside the “Bandit” Scott Kinney. Albright flexed his muscle early on but soon felt pressure from the aforementioned Dennett. The current Bay Cities Racing Association President hounded the rear tail tank of Albright, looking to find a way around the familiar No. 35jr machine.

Dennett ended up running a close second ahead of Citrus Heights’ Hunter Kinney, Citrus Heights’ Scott Kinney and Orangevale’s Harlee Aguilera.

Moto Wear heat race wins during the night went to Albright and Hunter Kinney, while Dennett began the evening by earning the Moto Wear fast time award with a lap of 12.093.

The Bay Cities Racing Association Lightning Sprints will now get set for a visit to the Antioch Speedway on Saturday April 8th. Also competing that night are the BCRA Midgets, as they contest the opening round of the Triple Crown Series.
