Pair of second-place finishes at Smoky Mountain and Cherokee
Mike Marlar entered his Tri-Rivers Enterprise No. 157 Late Model into battle on Saturday evening at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) for the event co-sanctioned by the Valvoline Iron-Man Southern Series and the Ultimate Southeast Series. With 37 Late Models on hand for the eighth annual Tennessee Tip-Off Classic, Marlar followed up the second-fastest time in his group with a heat race win. Starting the $12,000-to-win A-Main in fourth, Mike clawed forward two spots in the 50-lapper to register a second-place finish. He trailed Brandon Overton to the checkers with Tim McCreadie, Jonathan Davenport, and Kyle Strickler rounding out the Top-5. (Zack Kloosterman photo)
For the Southern All Star Series-sanctioned March Madness on Sunday, Mike scored his second podium finish of the weekend in the feature, crossing the line in second behind race-winner Chris Madden. Jonathan Davenport, Daulton Wilson, and Carson Ferguson completed the Top-5 finishers.
