The Southern All Stars Super Late Model Series departed South Carolina and headed south to the Panhandle of Florida to visit Southern Raceway for the Battle at the Beach. The Battle at the Beach was a two event that started Friday with a 30 Lap $3,000 to win main event and Saturday paid the winner a cool $10,000. Friday night the SAS would kick off the weekend with 24 SAS Super Late Models signing in to do battle for $3,000 top price. Qualifying would kick off the night and the driver who was the last to show up and drew the highest pill possible, Ryan Crane, former Asphalt Late Model standout, stopped the clock at a 14.644. Crane jump out to the lead and led lap 1 but a caution for a spinning Kendall Franklin would stack the field once again. The following restart, a couple of back markers get together negating the restart but cars towards the front of the field would bunch up resulting with Caleb Gay spinning and Steven Jernigan having nowhere to go ending Caleb Gay’s night. The next restart would see Ashton Winger wrestle the lead away from Crane, Crane would spin on his own in turn 1 bringing out what would be the final yellow of the night. Ashton Winger would lead the final 27 laps to pick up the win until it was time to cross the scales where he was light, after 3 attempts to cross the scales Winger was Disqualified handing the win over to 2020 SAS Champion Billy Franklin for his first career SAS win. Dalton Cook, Bo Slay, Joseph Joiner and GR Smith would round out the Top 5.
