Missouri State Fair: Where Championships and Bragging Rights Are Born
Sellersburg, IN (August 10th, 2024) – The Missouri State Fair in Sedalia, Missouri plays host to the Champion Seed Western Series on Monday, August 12th, showcasing eight of the eleven classes contested with the Western Series. As big a night of pulling action as Monday night presents itself to be, the Missouri State Fair separates itself as a place where pulling - all pulling - is revered and celebrated. While changes to the facility have limited some portions of the traditional Missouri State Fair dance card of pulling classes, it has been the one place, year-in, year-out, no matter if it sits on four hooves or four tires and pulled in the state of Missouri, you had opportunity to win a state championship and bragging rights for the year.
The one constant for the Missouri State Fair Truck and Tractor pulls until his passing was pulling Superintendent Carl Buckner. Buckner, along with his crew that made up "Camp Carl," ran a marathon of pulling at sprint-like speeds across five days at the fair. Today, Darrell Hendrix, Melissa Heider, and the crew that has made up "Camp Carl" for years continue his legacy.
The show before the show is Sunday, August 11th, it's a display of pullers from a diverse group state organizations in two sessions. Monday night is the brigade of Western Series pullers putting their own brand of power on display in the grandstand arena. That show includes the Sancrest Trailer Sales 95 Limited Pro Stock Tractors, Tuff Wireless Pro Farm Tractors, Super Modified Two Wheel Drive Trucks, Fleece Performance Pro Street Diesel Trucks, Sancrest Specialized Transport 85 Limited Pro Stock Tractors, Light Limited Super Stock Tractors, No Way Man Limited Pro Stock Diesel Trucks, and Light Pro Stock Tractors presented by Hull Machine.
