Lamm Lands In Mod Nationals Victory Lane
OGILVIE, MN (05/24/19) - One-hundred fourteen cars checked in for the first night of the 14th Annual Mod Nationals presented by Wehrs Machine, Dan Ebert, Eric Lamm, Mitchell Hribar, and Jake Smith collected the wins.
The WISSOTA Mod Fours were the first feature up and it was a good one. Keith Thell grabbed the lead and Mitchell Hribar quickly moved into second right behind him. Hribar would chase Thell for most of the race and it would come down to the final laps and on the final laps Hribar got enough to beat out Thell by inches at the line. Dustin Holtquist charged from his tenth starting spot to finish third, he was followed by Dean Larson and Tyler Larson.
The WISSOTA Hornets were up next, Grayson Pratt took the early lead and he was followed by Nate Servaty. Servaty was able to get around Pratt in the early laps, but on a restart Servaty’s car did not get up to speed and Pratt jumped into the lead. Pratt had his hands full in the final laps with Jake Smith, Joseph Wilber, and Corey Mehrwerth. On the final lap all four drivers were beating and banging and at the line it was Smith beating Pratt to the line by inches and another close finish, Mehrwerth took third, he was followed by Wilber and McDougall.
The 30-lap $2,000 to win WISSOTA Modified feature was up next. Dan Ebert quickly jumped into the lead while Shane Sabraski moved into second. Sabraski then set his sights on Ebert and around the middle of the race challenged Ebert for the lead. The two exchanged the lead several times but Ebert held on and was able to get through lap traffic and hold off Sabraski for the win. Jody Bellefeuille took third, he was followed by Dave Cain, and Landon Atkinson.
The final feature on the night was the 30-lap $2,000 to win WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature. Brandon Copp and Landon Atkinson made a little contact coming down the front stretch, Copp slid in front of the field causing several cars to pile up in turn one. Copp was charged with the caution and Jamie Davis and Tony Bahr suffered the worse as they were unable to continue. On the restart, Atkinson took control as Eric Lamm and David Swearingen battled for second, Swearingen took the spot. Swearingen then started closing the gap to Atkinson but before they could race for the lead Atkinson slowed bringing out the caution. In the final laps Lamm made several attempts to take the lead from Swearingen and finally got it done with three laps to go. Lamm drove away from Swearingen in the final laps to pick up the win. Swearingen took second, he was followed by Jeremy Nelson, Shane Sabraski, and Travis Schulte.
