305 Cars Invade Big O for MTH Fall Classic Night 1

Ogilvie, MN (October 4) – Friday night kicked off the 21st Annual Minnesota Truck Headquarters Fall Classic Presented by M&B Services at Wagamon’s Ogilvie Raceway. The event was hosted by FYE Motorsports, and 305 drivers signed in to race their qualifying heats across all eight WISSOTA divisions on Friday’s portion of the event.

The WISSOTA Street Stocks took the clay first with five heats on the agenda. Heat race wins were claimed by Kyle Dykhoff, Keith Tourville, Levi Randt, Justin Vogel and Andrew Hanson. With passing points earned by drivers in each race, winners of heat’s two and three, Tourville and Randt will start row one in Saturday’s Main event.

A hearty number of WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds filled seven heat races as 64 drivers checked in for the event. Adam Bohlman, Jason VandeKamp, Cole Boston, Joey Jensen, Jake Molitor, Ryan Putnam and Ashley Boyum topped their competitors during their respective races, and each are locked into Saturday’s feature, however Wyatt Boyum and Landyn Randt will lead the drivers to green from the front row.

Shane Sabraski, Tyler Peterson, Cole Searing, Dave Flynn and Ryan Mikkelson each grabbed heat wins in the WISSOTA Late Model class as 42 drivers raced quickly across five heats. Although many drivers will have to race a Bmain Saturday, Peterson and Mikkelson earned enough points to take positions one and two for the Big Dance.

The best of the best WISSOTA Modifieds of the region put on a show throughout their heats, with some finishes being as close as 0.005 seconds between drivers. However, it was Clayton Wagamon, Ryan Gierke, Jeremy Nelson (06), Kaden Blaeser, Mike Anderson and Landon Atkinson who claimed heat wins. After passing points were calculated, there were five different sets of ties in points, which included 12 of the top 16 drivers. The Modifieds were nothing less than impressive, and Gierke and Wagamon will have the honor of leading the pack to the stand on Championship night.

Dalton Carlson was the first WISSOTA Super Stock heat winner of the night along with Shane Sabraski, Jason Havel, Joel Collins, Dave Mass and Tommy Richards snagging wins. A majority of the finishes for first among the Supers was a difference of just half-a-second, however Joel Collins was able to top current National Point Leader Dexton Koch by 0.067 seconds. Jason Havel and Shane Sabraski will lead the drivers to green on Saturday night with lots of talent scattered throughout the field.

The WISSOTA Mod Four Son and Father team of Dustin Holtquist and Robert Holtquist earned the heats wins Friday evening and will line up in the exact same formation for Saturday’s feature event with other drivers following behind respectively.

The National Points battle is extremely close going into the weekend’s race for the WISSOTA Pure Stocks with Dustin Puffe ahead of Brent Mindock by just four points. Both drivers signed in to to race the Fall Classic and Puffe took his heat win, while Mindock finished third in the second heat. Rob Grabon snagged the win for heat two, but Kade Leeper and Puffe will lead the drivers to green on Championship Saturday.

The WISSOTA Hornets capped off Friday’s program with Dexyn Habraken, Anthony Jenson and Payson Patrin each taking a heat win. Overall, 23 Hornets checked in for the event so all will make the feature, but Jenson and Patrin are atop the drivers in passing points and will lead the field on Saturday evening.

With the clock showing 10:59pm, Night one of the FYE Motorsports 21st Annual MTH Fall Classic Presented by M&B Services was officially in the books. 305 drivers, 36 heats, numerous laps all completed within four hours’ time, and many drivers are eager to prep for Saturday’s Big Dance. The USRA Late Models will join us on Saturday, and with weather looking great – there’s a chance it could be a record breaking year. Racing will begin at 5:00pm.
