ABC Raceway to Offer Free Admission while Raising Funds for Worthwhile Causes
Ashland, WI, - This Saturday will be a busy night at the ABC Raceway.
First off, the award-winning northern Wisconsin red-clay oval is presenting a full night of stock car racing action “on the house,” with free grandstand admission for all fans in attendance. Then, prior to the night’s green-flag action, fans young and old alike will get the opportunity to visit with their favorite drivers on the front straightaway and collect autographs, treats and souvenirs during the popular “Meet the Drivers” session, to be presented by Little Caesar’s Pizza of Ashland.
And throughout the program, fans will be encouraged to contribute generously to the area’s charitable causes as part of Northern Clearing Inc’s “Racing for a Reason” fund raiser, with support from the Heartland Communications Group of radio stations.
The Raceway, in cooperation with its sponsors, will have designated areas located at the front gate and throughout the facility, where fans can make cash and non-perishable food item donations. Contributions will be distributed to the American Cancer Society and to The Brick Ministries.
“We collected nearly 1,400 pounds of food and almost $800 last year at this event,” Raceway Board president Eric Erickson recalled recently. “With help from our incredible fans, we’d love to top those numbers at this year’s event.”
All six weekly divisions will once again be in action. The WISSOTA Modifieds, Super Stocks and Midwest Modifieds have been coming out in strong numbers, there has been a loyal showing by locals in the WISSOTA Pure Stocks and ABC Six-Cylinders, and early indications are proving that the introduction of the WISSOTA Hornets to the weekly program will become a popular move.
Instead of hot laps, the “meet-and-greet” session will kick off the program with cars on the track at 6:45; green-flag racing should get started shortly after 7 pm.
“Race Night” will air on WBSZ, 93.3 FM, with up-to-date track news and weather updates every 15-20 minutes from 4:30-6 pm; coverage will also stream on www.wbszfm.com and on the free Heartland Communications Group radio app.
The ABC Raceway is located 3-1/2 miles south of Ashland on State Highway 13 and one mile west on Butterworth Road. For raceday information call (715) 682-4990, or log on to the track’s website, www.abcraceway.com.
