Lawrence Earns Runner-Up Result at Abilene Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – ABILENE, Texas (July 18, 2018) – Zane Lawrence captured a runner-up result last Saturday during a Texas Sprint Series show at Abilene Speedway.

“We had a pretty good weekend in the Bob Odom owned car,” he said. “We were able to make a few adjustments during the off weeks and make gains with the car.”

Lawrence lined up on the outside of the third row during a heat race and he gained a trio of positions to finish third. He then started the A Main on the inside of the fifth row.

“The car was rolling pretty good in the heat race and we were able to pick off a couple positions,” he said. “Then in the feature I was just rolling around on the bottom and picked off a handful of cars and made our way through the field pretty quickly.”

Lawrence advanced to second and moved up the track to run the same line as the leader with hopes of running him down.

“The later part of the race the car started sputtering and skipping,” he said. “The leader was struggling to get through traffic and I could still get to him, I just didn’t have the speed to get around him.”

Lawrence settled into second and the runner-up result marked his third top-five finish of the season.

“I had a lot of fun and that win is coming soon,” he said. “I can’t thank Bob enough for letting me run his car and hopefully we will be bringing back a check and trophy next weekend.”

Lawrence will be back in the 305ci sprint car this Friday at Boyd Raceway in Boyd, Texas, and Saturday at Kennedale Speedway Park in Kennedale, Texas, with the Texas Sprint Series.
