Mini Modified going 50 laps on Casella Night
The Busch Mini Modifieds will take a turn at long-distance racing on Casella Night, Saturday, August 2 in a 50-lap feature that could either help former point leader Steven Bresette regain first place or solidify his second cousin Tyler's 2014 championship chances.
Bresette has driven the Bob’s Fuels/Marsha’s Buffalo Farm No.14 to a win and seven top-5 finishes. He had been the Mini Modified point leader before engine woes on Island Excavating Night cost him the top spot.
Heading into the Casella 50, Tyler Bresette leads cousin Steven 440-427.
“This is my first full season in a Mini Modified and it’s gone pretty well,” Bresette said. “I was fortunate to get a chance to drive this car. It’s the car Rob Clark drove in 2013.”
Bresette is hoping to pick up his second win this Saturday. “I think I can get it done, but last week I blew the motor in practice,” he said. “This one’s a little different. We’ll see how it goes.”
Pete Blaney of Jay, who has shown the ability to run up front, but has had some difficulty passing tech inspection on occasion, is third in points (403).
Jay LaGrave and Michael Wright, both looking for their first win, are fourth and fifth respectively, in the Mini Modified standings.
Saturday’s Casella Night card includes J&S Steel Sportsman Modifieds and the Key RD Trailer Sales Renegades.
