Airborne Park Speedway
Bruce Richards On-Board
Airborne Park Speedway is excited to announce that Bruce Richards will be involved in track prep for 2017.
Richards has a long history with dirt track racing and track prep and will be a major asset for Airborne. Richards' knowledge and experience will allow us to have one of the greatest dirt surfaces in the northeast.
CJ Richards, father of Bruce, owned the facility back in the mid 1980's. Bruce was highly involved in track maintenance and continued to do it for a number of years both here and in the Capital District.
"It's been a long time since I've been to Airborne," said Richards. "I'm glad I'm able to help out the sport and I'm looking forward to being back on the dirt again."
Richards has been away from racing for a few seasons as he has been very involved with working back in his hometown of Malta.
"This is certainly a heartwarming experience and the track will be fast with it's configuration. I'll make sure we give the racers and fans a good surface with multiple racing groves."
The initial track prep has already begun and Richards will be around for the first few weeks of the season. Eventually, he will pass the baton to Eldred Hutchins, former racer and chief pit steward at Airborne.
Hutchins has great experience with the heavy machinery and also has a great passion for Airborne and racing in general. He will work with Richards and learn the ropes. The speedway is confident that Hutchins will pick it up quickly and provide a great track each week.
Opening day is just a couple weeks away. May 6 at 7 P.M.
