Airborne Park Speedway: Rained Out
PLATTSBURGH – Airborne Park Speedway officials have made the decision to cancel the racing program for Saturday, May 26.
With heavy rains expected this afternoon, it would be difficult to provide a quality race track for the night time. Also, in consideration of the drivers, Speedway officials do not want to inconvenience the racers by traveling and turning around to go home.
“This decision isn’t an easy one, because the night time weather looks to be okay,” Promoter John Walker said. “However, looking at multiple forecasts, it will be tough to keep up with the track if we receive the anticipated afternoon rainfall. We want to look out for the traveling racers and fans.”
The Unique eCigs Sportsman Series event number one will be rescheduled for next Saturday. All protocol will remain the same for the Sportsman Modifieds next weekend.
The Ernie’s Discount Tools Super Stock special will be moved to a later date in the season. An announcement is expected to be made this week on the placing of the Super Stock event.
Next weekend Airborne will feature Volunteer Fire & EMS night presented by Haun Welding. The Egglefield Ford 358-Modifieds, Super Stocks, Mini-Mods and Strictly Stocks will all be in action for regular distance point events. The Poirier’s True Value Sportsman Modifieds will be battling in the first leg of the Unique eCigs Sportsman Series.
Dozerfest will also be next weekend on the Speedway grounds. Visit Plattsburgh Dozerfest on Facebook for details on that event.
