Trucks rolled, trucks started on fire and lots of crashes during the Sibley County Fair Night of Destruction which was sponsored by Lindsay Thomas; True Real Estate, the Cara Bishop Team. A capacity crowd was on hand for the annual event during the Sibley County Fair. There were 24 Jerry’s Home Quality Foods Auto Cross drivers along with some having assistance from co-drivers that were eager to get the checkered flag. Gaylord’s Aaron Brinkman won the event as he led all 10 laps from start to finish with Jake Trebesh following him to the flag. There were 25 EZ Wash & Storage Truck Cross drivers along with 11 co-drivers assisting their drivers in making maneuvers. Twenty of those trucks began the feature and there was three different leaders throughout The 6t of Brandon Kuehl was the early leader but the race was stopped on the first lap when the truck of 17l Andrew Burns spun and rolled, he was ok but out of the race. On the restart, Kuehn was once again took the lead but coming into the turn, he lost it to Brett McConnell. On lap 6 the 23 of Tom Goethke rolled his truck and at the same time the 77 of Cody Sievert had troubles, both were out of the race. The following lap another red flag was thrown when the 851 of Josh Compton also rolled his truck, after getting it put back on wheels he was able to resume racing. The following lap the infield flagman put up the green flag for 2 laps to go and all the trucks except two exited the track thinking the race was complete. The 96x of Blake Teubert and 851 of Josh Compton made another lap and took the white flag and then exited the turn for the checkered flag. But due to not going to tech after the race, it was then determined that Brett McConnell was the winner with Dustin Theuringer taking 2nd and Eric Rolf taking 3rd to make for a chaotic end of the race.
The Car soccer had four teams and it was team Goal Diggers that prevailed scoring 2-0 to win the $600 prize with the Gold Diggers taking 2nd.and $400. The Goal Diggers consisted of Adam Weckwerth and Aaron Meyer and the Gold Digger team was Joe Aguilera and tom Wentzlaff all of Arlington.
The figure 8 feature saw two different leaders with veteran driver Rod Manthey leading most of the race as Dan Jacobus stuck with him. On the 9th lap, they were going around the last turn and Jacobus got under Manthey and got by him to take the lead. He then got more distance as lapped traffic got in the way. Jacobus took the win and $700 and Manthey settled for 2nd ahead of Tony Hoff.
Five area fire departments participated in the bus demo race. The crowd pleaser was the green machine from Green Isle as he was voted best appearing bus. But the overall department taking home the trophy was Mason Schmidt from Gibbon as he outlasted the rest of the buses.
