Inside Line Promotions – ATTICA, Ohio (July 12, 2018) – The season has turned around for Chris Andrews thanks to a new car the Burmeister Racing team put together a few weeks ago.

Andrews scored his second straight win at Fremont Speedway in Fremont, Ohio, last Saturday before he put on quite the entertaining performance on Tuesday against the World of Outlaw Craftsman Sprint Car Series during the Brad Doty Classic at Attica Raceway Park.

The action last weekend began at Fremont Speedway, where Andrews continued his great qualifying effort, once again setting the fastest lap. A third-place finish in his heat race put him in the second row to start the A Main. He used a restart early in the race to grab the lead and then made daring moves in traffic to drive to the 410ci sprint car win.

“Since we put this new car together it’s been on a rail,” he said. “It’s very maneuverable. To get two wins in a row at Fremont, I’ve always struggled somewhat there. Fremont is the Burmeister Family’s home so to win there is very special.”

Crown Battery, the night sponsor at Fremont Speedway on Saturday, also put extra money up for an Australian Pursuit, which Andrews also won.

“That pursuit was pretty cool,” he said. “I can’t thank Crown Battery enough for all they did at Fremont.”

Andrews returned to racing with momentum on Tuesday during the 30th annual Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic Presented by Racing Optics at Attica Raceway Park. A poor qualifying time – 19th out of 25 in his group – put the team behind the entire night. However, Andrews didn’t let that stop him from nearly making the A Main against arguably the best 410ci sprint car drivers in the world.

“We were super free in qualifying and it cost us big time,” he said.

Andrews charged from seventh to fifth in his heat, missing the A Main by two positions. In the C Main he started eighth and had a very good battle with Kraig Kinser for the win before settling for second and moving to the Last Chance Showdown, where he rolled off 14th.

Andrews quickly marched through the field and battled for the sixth-and-final transfer position with T.J. Michael as the pair continuously swapped the spot. Andrews came up one spot short as the checkered flag was waved.

“The guys had the car really, really good,” Andrews said. “To be honest, I thought they only took four cars to the A. When I got back to the pits and they said I earned the Hoseheads ‘Just Missed It’ bonus I was pissed at myself.

“It was cool all the fans that came down or sent me messages and bought our new t-shirts after the races. To pass that many cars in a World of Outlaws B Main is unheard of. While it was disappointing not making the show to get the reaction we did from the fans made it a lot better.”

The win at Fremont moved Andrews to fourth in the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads FAST 410 Championship Series Presented by Ohio Logistics championship standings. He will take the coming weekend off before a FAST Series doubleheader July 20 at Attica Raceway Park and July 21 at Fremont Speedway.
