Result July 24th

{nl}{nl}{nl}{nl}{nl}{nl}{nl}{nl}Coca-Cola Family Night at Auto City proved to be a fun night for fans and drivers alike on Saturday, July 24th.  The weather turned out perfect as 6 divisions provided all the action.{nl}     Mike Luberda, Sr. showed up in a brand-new race car and set the pace for the Dart Machinery Modifieds with a qualifying lap of 16.50.  Nick Clemons won the dash while John Fletcher took the heat race.  Fletcher jumped ahead to start the 40-lap feature and was having one of his best ever runs.  But on lap 13 Chuck Silva made contact with him going for the lead on lap 13, sending Fletcher spinning and both cars were sent to the rear.  That gave the lead to veteran Tony Brabbs with Clemens hot on his tail.  On lap 29 Don Morse suffered a flat tire and slid in front of Brabbs, slowing him just enough for Clemens to get by.  The Racin' Schoolteacher kept Brabbs behind him to win his first feature of the year.  Rounding out the top 5 were Luberda, Rick Weicorek and Silva.{nl}     A huge field of Mini Cup cars was on hand as Morgan Baird set fast time with a 19.32.  John Dewey took home the heat race win.  In the 20-lap feature Damon Place jumped in front and started to pull away But on lap 7 Baird ran him down and took over the top spot.  Baird held off a strong charge from Jesse Thatcher to take the victory.  Rounding out the top 5 were Dewey, Todd Wilfong and Tyler Minix.{nl}     Defending track champ Adam Rowe was fastest for the Modern Concrete Street Stocks with a 15.40.  Jim Miller, Jr. won the dash while R.J. Blandino took the heat race.  It was an action-packed 30-lap feature as Jeremy Spencer took the early lead.  The former dirt-tracker had his best run ever at Auto City, leading the first 13 laps until former track champ Mike Walther got him on a restart.  Miller passed Walther on lap 20 and it was a 4-car battle involving Miller, Walther, Jay Woolworth and Rowe.  In the end it was Miller taking the checkered flag. {nl}{nl}{nl}But Jim, Jr. was DQ'd during post-race inspection, giving the victory to Jay Woolworth.  With Walther 2nd, Rowe 3rd and Julian Fluty 4th rounded out the top 4 finishers.{nl}     Jordan Lechota continued his success in the Mt. Morris-Clio Herald Pure Stocks, setting fast time with a 16.49.  Duane Damon won the dash while heat race winners were Rex Perry and Mike Barrett.  The fans were delighted as Lechota spun a 16-car invert for the 25-lap feature and that created 3-wide racing from the green flag. Jeff Jostock had his best run ever, leading the first 9 laps.  Then it was Lechota taking over the top spot and he never looked back to claim the victory.  Chad Lamson was second followed by Jostock, Nick Johnston and Scott Beach.{nl}     It was Jim Daniels, Juniors night in the Spaulding Insurance Virtual 6 division as he set quick time with an 18.73, won the heat and the 12-lap feature, followed by Shane McMullen, Frank Stevens, Dillon Eaton and Russ Williams.{nl}     The Bob Kern's Auto Repair Krazy 8 race was a wild one as Chad Lamson took the lead at the start.  Drivers avoided accidents at the intersection as well as the infield as Lamson led every lap for the win.  Tony Williams took second followed by Rick Dinius III, Andrew Burton and Don Dennie.{nl}     It's a big two-day show this weekend at the Clio Speedplant.  On Saturday, July 31st there'll be 5 divisions in action including the Auto City Super Stocks, Virtual 6 the Michigan Legends Series and Spectator Drags and the Tiger Street Stock Special & Kiddy Stocks.  Than on Sunday, August 1st its Maximum Destruction presented by Suski Chevrolet- Buick with smashing' and crashing' started at 6pm.
