Inside Line Promotions – HIGHLANDS, Texas (March 28, 2017) – Last season it took Tommy Bryant until the end of the year to get a win and he was determined not to let that happen in 2017.

Bryant regrouped from an early race bobble last Saturday at Battleground Speedway, where he drove his SawBlade.com sponsored Cooper Motorsports machine into the lead with only a handful of laps remaining to secure his first win of the year with the ASCS Gulf South Region.

“We’ve had good speed the first five races of the year,” he said. “We just needed the cards to fall the right way. Saturday, they fell right into my lap. I couldn’t be happier for this team. I have to thank the Coopers for everything they give me and my wife, Tracy, for all of the support.”

Bryant kicked off the night by winning a heat race from the pole. That locked him into the feature redraw, in which he pulled the No. 3 to start the main event on the inside of the second row.

Bryant quickly advanced into the runner-up position and he passed Ray Allen Kulhanek for the lead on Lap 5. Bryant stretched his advantaged to a little over a straightaway before veteran Travis Rilat caught Bryant around Lap 10.

“I bobbled on the cushion and he got around me and when I tried to cross back over I hit a rut and biked and he got away a little,” Bryant said. “I just got the car back under me and chased him down. As soon as he hit lapped cars I knew I had a shot. He got held up and I got around him. I pulled away there at the end.”

Bryant regained the lead in the closing laps and he cruised to the win.

“The track was a little rough and I was gassed at the end of that one,” he said. “The car was great. I could drive it anywhere I wanted.”

Bryant and the SawBlade.com sponsored team are scheduled to return to action April 7-8 at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas, for the Tony Stewart presents the Texas Sprint Car Nationals with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

“SawBlade had the Dirt Collective’s Jeremy Cross come in and do some video of the car,” Bryant said. “They stuck a camera in the cockpit during hot laps and the footage was pretty cool. SawBlade works very had to help promote our team and I couldn’t ask for a better sponsor.”
