Tankersley Sweeps ASCS Gulf South Region Event at Battleground Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – HIGHLANDS, Texas (July 24, 2018) – Channin Tankersley captured his second straight ASCS Gulf South Region feature victory last Saturday at Battleground Speedway to boost his lead in the championship standings to 67 points.

“We had a pretty solid error-free night and that’s all you can ask for,” he said. “You always learn something every time you’re on the track and we’ve been trying a few things differently the last month or so. We’re trying to get our stuff together for the end of the year because we’ll run some bigger races. I feel really comfortable in the car whether the track is rough or super slick or fast. We have a good balance on everything.”

The Old School Racing driver powered from fourth to win a heat race. That earned enough points to lock into the feature redraw. Tankersley pulled the third-highest number – six – to start the A Main on the outside of the third row.

“We were able to pick and choose where we wanted to go and it worked out good for us,” he said. “I got one or two or maybe three right away. I think I was up to second by the second or third lap. It took me eight or 10 laps to get to the leader. We started catching a little traffic. I changed my line because the track migrated to the bottom. I got there before the leader and we were able to take the lead and pull away.”

Tankersley took over the top spot just before the midpoint of the race and he cruised to his third triumph of the season.

He will return to Battleground Speedway this Saturday with the ASCS Gulf South Region.
