Belleville, IL – The Scott Credit Union Military Night scheduled for Friday, August 21st has been cancelled. “I made a mistake,” said Kenny Brown, promoter of Belle-Clair Speedway. “With Highland Speedway running Friday and Saturday night and Tri-City running double features on Friday with Modifieds, it wouldn’t be good for the sport for three tracks to compete against each other. With three tracks running within a 50 miles radius, it just doesn’t make sense to force teams and fans to choose which track and spread everyone thin amongst three tracks.”
Originally scheduled for Sunday, the Scott Credit Union Military Night was changed to Friday due to the struggle to get fans and cars on Sunday nights. “At the request of teams and fans we switched a couple races to Fridays, Brown said. “In 2016 the track will be a predominately Friday night track.” It should also be noted that at the conclusion of the 2015 season, promoters from the local tracks will be getting together to work out the 2016 scheduling to help prevent situations like this from happening again.
The Scott Credit Union Military Night is rescheduled for the Season Championship on Friday, September 4th. Classes running include B Modifieds, POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micros, Belleville Automotive Pure Stocks, Kettler & Son’s UMP Late Models, and UMP Modifieds.
