Mark Burch Motorsports and Lasoski Sweep Dan Laber Memorial Doubleheader at Billings Motorsports Park

Inside Line Promotions – BILLINGS, Mont. (Sept. 13, 2016) – Mark Burch Motorsports travelled more than 14 hours to last weekend’s Dan Laber Memorial seeking its first win of the season.

The team returned home from the NSA Shootout doubleheader at Billings Motorsports Park with a pair of victories, including Saturday’s $7,500-to-win finale.

“We’ve run well this season, but just were unable to get over the hurdle and win a race,” said Danny Lasoski, who has driven for the team since 2011. “It was a long trip to Montana so it was great to bring back a couple of wins.”

The weekend opened on Friday with Lasoski qualifying third quickest before he placed fifth in a heat race. That ranked him ninth in overall points and lined him up on the inside of the fifth row for the main event.

After falling to 10th on the opening lap, Lasoski charged into third place when a caution came out on Lap 11. He maneuvered into the runner-up position a lap after the restart and tracked down the leader, Jake Bubak, in traffic during the closing laps.

Lasoski took the lead down the backstretch with two laps remaining, but a lapped car slid into his lane. That forced Lasoski to power through the middle in turn four as he beat Bubak to the start-finish line as the white flag was being waved. Lasoski pulled away on the final lap to give the team its first triumph of the season.

“It’s very rewarding to win, especially after starting in the middle of the pack,” he said. “Mark works so hard and it was just him and me this weekend working on the car so it was the perfect way to start the weekend.”

The team returned to the 3/8-mile oval on Saturday for the finale, which began with Lasoski qualifying fifth quickest. He advanced from third place to win a heat race and lock himself into the feature redraw, where he pulled the No. 1 during the random draw to start the 29-lap main event on the pole.

“It was an advantage to get the track position from the start,” he said. “With Sammy Swindell starting on the outside of the front row I knew it’d be important to take the lead right away and we did.”

Lasoski led all 29 laps to score his second straight triumph.

“I want to thank (Billings Motorsports Park Owner) Mike Quigley, his family and his staff for putting on a great event and inviting us to participate,” he said. “We had a great time and look forward to getting back there whenever we can.”

Additionally, Mark Burch Motorsports would like to thank everyone who supported the Team Jack Foundation by purchasing a unique t-shirt. All sales of the apparel will go to the Team Jack Foundation. The t-shirts are available at each race Mark Burch Motorsports contests throughout the season.

SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT – Team Jack Foundation

The Team Jack Foundation was established to raise money to fund impactful pediatric brain cancer research and to create national awareness for the disease. The Team Jack Foundation got its start when Jack Hoffman, who is a 10-year-old from Atkinson, Neb., was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2011. Hoffman battled life-threatening surgeries and debilitating seizures as doctors scrambled to save his life.

During that time his family reached out to the University of Nebraska in hopes that Hoffman could meet Rex Burkhead, who was the star running back for the football team. They met in September 2011 and a friendship was born, which was also featured on ESPN. Burkhead’s support earned him the Rare Disease Champion Award presented by Uplifting Athletes.

As of January 2014, the Team Jack movement has raised $2.5 million and counting for pediatric brain cancer research. The Team Jack Foundation is working with world renowned researchers, directly, to develop relevant and impactful research initiatives.

“We are extremely happy to support the Team Jack Foundation and its mission,” Burch said. “The Team Jack Foundation is something that is special to me. We want to do all we can within the grass roots level of dirt racing where we are known to promote the awareness of pediatric cancer and hopefully help raise additional funds for research to cure the disease.”

Mark Burch Motorsports would also like to thank Engler Machine & Tool, Inc., Wolfweld Chassis, AFCO Gas Shocks by Speedway Motors, King Racing Products, Hot Dot Inc., Weld Wheels, Speedway Motors, Speedway Shock Service, Huggins Cams, Total Seal Piston Rings, Schoenfeld Headers, Joe Gibbs Driven Race Oil, Gessford Machine, Dyer’s Top Rods, Wireless Amber Alerts, Hoosier Tire, Arrow Truck Sales, Donovan Blocks, Rod End Supply, Diamond Pistons, Saldana Racing Products, MSD Ignition, Vortex Wings, S & S Welding, Inc., Sweet Manufacturing, DMI Bulldog Rears, Wulff Pumps, Red Devil Brakes, Goodridge Fluid Transfer Systems, Harris Decals, Lincoln Auto Auction and the Team Jack Foundation for their continued support.
