Inside Line Promotions – BILLINGS, Mont. (Sept. 13, 2016) – Seth Bergman recorded two top-five finishes on the same weekend for the first time in seven weeks last Friday and Saturday at Billings Motorsports Park during the NSA Shootout’s Dan Laber Memorial.
“It’s been a struggle this year and we haven’t produced the results we’ve expected so it was nice to put together back-to-back top fives,” he said. “Our expectation is to run up front and be a contender, which we were last weekend. It was a fun weekend in Montana and I’m looking forward to the next time I can return to Billings Motorsports Park.”
Bergman opened the event on Friday by qualifying fifth quickest before he advanced from fourth to second place in a heat race. That locked him into the feature redraw, where he pulled the No. 4 to start the main event on the outside of the second row.
“We battled between third and fifth the whole race,” he said. “There were a handful of us who were right there and in the closing laps the top four were all within contention for the win. Track position was key and we needed a break or two in traffic that we didn’t get.”
Bergman finished fourth, which gave the team momentum entering Saturday’s $7,500-to-win finale.
Bergman qualified sixth quickest and he picked up a position in a heat race to place second. That locked him into the feature redraw. This time he ended with the second-highest number – five – to start the 29-lap main event on the inside of the third row.
“Track position was the biggest factor and we didn’t have luck on our side with that,” he said. “Passing was tough so I was pleased to end with a podium.”
Bergman gained two positions to post a third-place finish, which was his 20th top five of the season.
He is scheduled to return to action this Saturday at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., for the Ralph Henson Memorial.
