Inside Line Promotions – WEEDSPORT, N.Y. (June 12, 2018) – Trey Starks highlighted his first trip to New York with a top-five result last Friday to kick off an Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions tripleheader.

The Gobrecht Motorsports driver opened the weekend the previous night at BAPS Motor Speedway in York Haven, Pa., where Starks qualified seventh quickest and won a heat race before he ended 11th in the main event.

“We had a pretty good start, but didn’t have the finish we wanted,” he said. “We weren’t where we needed to be. The track changed a bunch from the heat to the feature. It was really racy and there was a lot of stuff going on, but we just struggled.”

The team ventured to New York on Friday for an All Star show at Outlaw Speedway in Dundee. Starks timed in third quickest in his group before he placed fourth in a heat race. That lined him up on the inside of the sixth row for the A Main.

“We made some big adjustments for the feature and ended up being really good,” he said. “About the halfway point we knocked the nose wing down. That didn’t help us at all, but we still managed a fifth-place finish. That was a good night for us.”

The fifth-place run was Starks’ first top five with the All Stars this season.

He then made his debut at Stateline Speedway in Jamestown the following night.

“That was a different kind of track,” he said. “It was really unique. We didn’t qualify very good and that put us behind the whole night. We just couldn’t really get anywhere. We didn’t advance like we wanted to.”

Starks qualified seventh in his group. He posted a sixth-place result in a heat race before ending the night 16th in the main event.

The weekend wrapped up on Sunday at Weedsport Speedway, where Starks timed in fifth in his group’s qualifying session. He then advanced a position to finish fourth in a heat race, which earned the 12th starting position in the A Main.

“Weedsport is one of the best facilities around,” he said. “It’s a really fun race track, too. We were pretty good in the heat and found some speed on different parts of the track. In the feature we were up to fifth by about the fifth lap or so. We were battling for fourth on a restart when we made contact with a car in front of us. We spun out and kept it going, but fell back to about 12th. That was just a driver error. I felt like we had a top-three car. It’s a shame the results don’t show it.”

Starks closed the weekend with a 12th-place result.
