Josh Schneiderman – Dubuque and Knoxville Up Next!

Josh Schneiderman and the Deuce Motorsports #49 team are coming off a solid fourth place finish with the Sprint Invaders at Bloomfield Speedway in Iowa on July 17. The last couple weeks at Knoxville Raceway have been frustrating for one reason or another, but the team is excited to be back in action with the Sprint Invaders Thursday at Dubuque, and back at Knoxville Saturday as they await their primary engine for the Knoxville Nationals.

The West Burlington, Iowa driver has done well and visited Victory Lane in the past in Bloomfield. “It’s what we do well,” says Josh. “The track fits my driving style, and it fits our team. We always seem to run well there. They had the track in the best shape possible after getting rain the night before. We were able to get a jump into second and get in the Dash, which is important.”

Josh would drive from sixth to third in the Dash, but the Sprint Invaders do a redraw following it. That hurt, as he would start the feature sixth. “We were good in the Dash again, but that dang redraw bit us again,” he says. “It ended up hurting us, but it was what it was. We started the feature sixth. We got up to third at one time. I just didn’t get to the bottom quick enough in one and two.”

Josh stayed with the leaders, but would checker fourth. “I lost a spot there,” he says. “We were racing (brother) Jarrod (Schneiderman) for third and it wasn’t worth it to destroy both cars for one spot. It was good to have him have a good run and our effort was solid as well.”

The next night saw Twin Features at Knoxville. “We qualified o.k. (twefth),” says Josh. “That was nothing to hang our head about. We had a nice heat race and had a battle with the 17 car there. We were really nice there (going from third to second).”

He would start 12th in the first feature. “They’re always on me about being more aggressive on the starts,” says Josh. “This was one of the few times we’ve started on the top (12th) in the feature. I got on it and (Dusty) Zomer was sliding up the track a little bit. I got into the cushion wrong and bicycled into the fence. That bent the front end and the Jacob’s ladder. We were able to patch it back together for the second feature. The right rear arm ended up being bent too, so the car was doing funky things. I decided to call it an evening.”

Last Saturday went a little better. Josh would time in 17th quick, and garner a heat race win. He would start the feature inside row eight. “The inside was a tough place to be,” he says. “We had a good start the first time when Davey (Heskin) spun out. We passed four or five cars. We struggled to roll on the bottom after that. We had a restart with fourteen or fifteen to go, and I went into turn one and tried to crash. I almost got her done, but somehow saved it. We lost a few spots and ended up 17th.”

One thing seems to be the Achilles ’ heel at Knoxville. “We’re in the ballpark,” says Josh. “If I could figure out how to qualify, I’ve got a heck of a racecar when it comes feature time. But you can’t start 17th and win the feature.”
