Lightning Sprint Nationals
Now an annual event, the Lightning Sprint Nationals has concluded. A two-day extravaganza seeing racers from all over the country converge at Bloomington Speedway for an inflated purse and USAC points. 36 Lightning Sprint teams inflated the car count from the previous year, consisting of many National front runners. Exiting both nights of racing a single HENCHCRAFT dominated the field to earn two victories and ultimately the title of this year’s Nationals winner, Mr. Don Harvey.
The MMSA moved on from Bloomington to Lincoln Park Speedway only to see another unique winner. Ryan Barr earned his first victory with the club after showing some muscle in previous events. The 21B HENCHCRAFT started on the pole and never wavered.
The NLSA rolled into Buffalo River Race Park for the two day Corn Cob Nationals. One young hot show aimed to have the “King of the Cob” title changed to Queen as Kelsi Pederson won the open night event in her HENCHCRAFT. Another up and comer would prevail on the final night of the event and the season. Alex Truscinski led all 20 trips, in a field of 21 cars, around the semi-banked quarter-mile clay oval in route to his second win at BRRP.
Jason Billups continues to be one of two cars to beat with the MLS. The HENCHCRAFT driver earned another victory at Valley Speedway over the weekend adding to his season points total.
