Pair of Top-5 finishes in LA State Championships at Boothill

Taking part in the Labor Day weekend doubleheader, Jon Mitchell traveled to Boothill Speedway (Greenwood, La.) on Friday afternoon for the 49th annual Louisiana Dirt Track State Championships. In a field of 16 cars, Mitchell clawed forward one spot in his heat race to finish fifth. Starting the A-Main in 10th, Jon gained five spots in the 20-lapper to place fifth. He trailed Jamie Burford, Brandon Ball, David Winslett and Robbie Starnes across the line.

For the finale on Saturday, Jon’s five-lap dash victory positioned him on the pole for the feature. With $2,000 on the line, Mitchell lost one position in the 30-lap affair to register a runner-up finish. He followed Jamie Burford to the checkers with Kevin Sitton, Chad Dupont, and Brandon Ball rounding out the Top-5.
